Income which is not related to exempt purposes, less applicable deductions, is subject to federal and state corporate income taxes. The Foundation is exempt from income taxes under IRC Section 501(c)(3). The PAC is exempt from income taxes under IRC Section 527 of the IRC, except for net income earned from an activity that is not within the exempt function. The Corporation is a for-profit C Corporation. The purpose of the Corporation is to manage a surety program covering member companies and other unrelated business interest taxable member benefit programs. The Corporation is a wholly owned for-profit subsidiary of TIA. In the event non-exempt income occurs, the Corporation pays taxes and records any necessary tax accruals.
