<Desc>Community - People and communities are at the heart of everything we do. Bereavement is a shared human experience, and our nation's systems should be configured to enable every person to cope in the aftermath. We host listening sessions, gatherings, and provide microgrants to innovative bereavement programs. Evermore has established an engaged following in every state across the nation and we work to cultivate civic influencers and leaders to champion cultural and social policy and practice changes in their local communities nationwide. Our weekly newsletter reaches thousands of engaged people living in America and beyond.</Desc>

<Desc>Science - Evermore uses quantitative and qualitative data and evidence to strengthen and inform our actions. Over the last decade, we have become the go-to resource for credible bereavement information for the media and government. We have achieved this distinction by working with the nation's most distinguished researchers and experts via our Scientific Advisory Council. These scholars have helped shape Evermore's policy priorities and approach, ensuring consistency and continuity from the community to national systems change. For example, in partnership with Penn State and the University of Southern California, Evermore produced "America's Forgotten Orphans," which found that the number of parentally bereaved children in the United States reached a twenty-year high, rising significantly in nearly every state and in every racial and ethnic group. Since 2000, Indigenous children have been parentally bereaved at a higher rate than every other racial or ethnic group, reaching an all-time high of 2.2 times the national rate in 2021.</Desc>

<Desc>Advocacy - Evermore went to Congress in January 2020 (pre-COVID-19) with concerns that bereavement was a significant public concern hiding in plain sight. As our nation reels from concurrent mortality epidemics and the evidence base grows, bereavement's intersectionality with other public emergencies can no longer be ignored. Evermore works with both political parties and across Congress, The White House, and multiple federal agencies to advance succinct bereavement policies and actions. As a result of our work, the U.S. government is taking multiple actions to address and accelerate the nation's response to bereavement, so that everyday Americans are no longer coping with few quality resources and support.</Desc>

<ExplanationTxt>Evermore is dedicated to making the world a more livable place for all bereaved people. We are changing policies and practices within our communities and across the nation so that all bereaved people can achieve a healthy, prosperous, and equitable future. Known as a "field catalyst," Evermore is pioneering and facilitating social transformation by instituting bereavement policies within existing infrastructures to make lasting system changes. We seek to serve all people in the United States, regardless of race, wealth, faith, geography, sexual orientation, political affiliation, incarceration status, national origin, disability, genetic conditions, age, or other disenfranchisement. We stand for a united nation.</ExplanationTxt>

<ExplanationTxt>Evermore has established itself as the nation's most trusted voice in bereavement policy and advocacy and has achieved astonishing success in recent years. Bereavement is largely undocumented and thus a "hidden" problem in the United States and throughout the world. In addition to the immense personal tragedy people experience, it's a problem with vast health, economic, and social consequences. To address these consequences, Evermore is accelerating lasting societal change by using data and science to drive policy and practice advancements grounded in individuals and families' lived experiences. We work across three program verticals community, science, and advocacy that collectively facilitate social transformation. We couple first-hand experiences with state-of-the-art science to drive social change through policy and community-based systems for all bereaved people. Our work has been covered by many top-tier media outlets, and our founder was featured on PBS NewsHour's Brief But Spectacular.</ExplanationTxt>
