In 2022, we performed 12,234 spay/neuter surgeries. These surgeries prevented hundreds of thousands of unwanted puppies and kittens from being into abuse, neglect and ultimately facing euthanasia in overcrowded shelters. The surgeries, which prevent or substantially reduce certain types of illnesses and cancers, will also help these pets live longer, healthier lives. 137244 In our wellness business, clients receive low-cost vaccines and other preventative care at our Friday vaccine clinics and income-qualified clients receive basic veterinary care and pet food so they can keep their beloved pets with them instead of being forced to surrender them to a shelter. We beleive that every pet deserves a vet. So, in 2020, the clinic began offering low-cost wellness visits for income-qualified pet owners so their pets could get a thorough examination, treatment for minor issues, and preventative services to keep their pets healthy. General explanation attachment Additional Program Accomplishments:The positive impact of these surgeries is being seen in almost all of the county shelters in our service area, as the dog and cat intake rates are decreasing and therefore the euthanasia rates are decreasing. To keep pets healthy and out of shelters, UCAN also provides at low-cost microchips, rabies, and other recommended vaccinations, parasite prevention, and treatment for worms and other minor conditions. The clinic serves 24 counties in 3 states with most of the clients coming from the 15 counties within a 50 mile radius of Cincinnati. To ensure everyone in its service area has access to its affordable spay/neuter services, UCAN provides free transports to its clinic from several locations in the surrounding counties that it serves.
