Its purpose is to serve its member engineering and technical organizations in Silicon Valley and provide outreach to education and the community. GOALS: (1) increase public understanding of the impact of engineering and science in enhancing the quality of life. (2) Sponsor and promote engineering educational activities, programs and outreach. (3) Promote community service by the engineering and technical societies and their members. (4) Coordinate activities and assist communications among local engineering organizations. (5) Coordinate Engineers Week activities in the Silicon Valley. 2023 Feb 24, Engineers Week banquet, recognized new Hall of Fame inductee, awarded scholarships, Keeper of the Flame award to an educator and Discover E recognition to a teacher. Held at the Computer History Museum with a catered dinner and reception, about 192 people attended. Keynote Speaker was a luminary in the Silicon Valley world. This was the first event post COVID. After two years of absence, it was much needed. This long-standing event is an opportunity for Silicon Valley engineering professional organizations to recognize its leaders and outstanding students and educators, along with celebrating national Engineers Week. 0 37121 Scholarships (education grants) awarded 6 @ $500 and one Keeper of the Flame award $1,000 were announced at the 2023 Engineers Week Banquet. One scholarship awarded in 2020 was never cashed; this was balanced out against the $4,000 awarded in 2023. 3000 0 After the removal of the then President in a March 15, 2023 Board of Directors and SVEC Council Special Meeting, the removed officer took adversarial steps to restrict access to our organization accounts. Subsequent to this date, the remaining Board of Directors has had to obtain a new website, regain the bank account, and other accounts. As of this date, that person is still acting as if he is the President and is keeping up the old website (www.svec.org). We have moved the organization to a new one with new email accounts, and the member organizations are moving forward. We have asked the Santa Clara County District Attorney to hold this person criminally liable and that investigation is ongoing. This fee is for an attempt to get a restraining order against that person.
