The financial statements and tax returns are also available via independent third party websites. Covid has caused major disruptions and backlogs. Further ill health of aged close family members and relatives added in delay to collect and compile the data from various sources. Till then we were only filing the postcard but for 2021 we realized that we had to file an extended return in Form 990. Initially we thought it would be straightforward and we can do it ourselves. But after some failed attempts we as a volunteer driven organization we reached out to some volunteers to help us with this process. However, due to various reasons the process never got completed in time. Some volunteers did not have the bandwidth to complete the process and were handed to a new batch of volunteers who initially committed to helping us but did not find enough time to work on this. Eventually we had to find professional help through a reference of one of our trusted volunteers who agreed to help us with the filing process. It was very hard to connect the professional for accounting services to ensure accuracy and due compliance. This is what led to the delay in the filing process.
