We cover a 5 county service area in Northern West Virginia, operating out of 8 clinical locations. Northwood Health Systems provides services to over 3,000 patients each year. The vast majority of our patients are covered by Medicaid, and many of the patients not covered by Medicaid qualify for free care through our charity care policy. In fiscal year 2024, Northwood Health Systems provided approximately $1 million dollars in charity care. A large portion of our service area is rural and we are able to provide our patients access to a psychiatrist and other services through telemedicine. 7910420 7417819 Substance abuse services - We provide programming to individuals who suffer from substance use disorders (SUD). Our programming consists of medication assisted treatment (MAT), medically supervised detoxification services, day treatment, outpatient services and crisis services. A major focus of our SUD service is Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for patients addicted to heroin and other types of opioids. Stakeholders were identified as experts in a particular field related to their background, experience or professional position and/or someone who understood the needs of a particular underrepresented group or constituency. The interview and focus groups were conducted across the region with various community constituencies who suffered from chronic and serious mental illness, substance use disorder, homelessness and intellectual disabilities.
