Gateway Foundation employs a variety of clinical models which are constantly evolving to incorporate best practice, science driven interventions including the use of psychiatry and addiction medicine.Gateway Foundation treatment sites span eight states, including Illinois, Texas, Delaware, Missouri, New Jersey, Michigan, Florida and Wyoming. In total, Gateway Foundation maintains over 50 sites, all dedicated to providing a range of substance use disorder treatment services. Programs are provided in both community and correctional settings and serve a diverse clientele. Gateway Foundation has a long history of providing evidenced-based, licensed and accredited services in these programs. We demonstrate expertise in best practices, possess financial stability, and have extensive administrative support services.In the past year, our Community Service Division undertook a complete revision of our co-occurring curriculum and has implemented new treatment materials to better meet the needs of current clients. Our facilities have been named by Newsweek magazine on the list of America's Best Addiction Treatment Center for both 2020 and 2021. We have continued to grow our virtual treatment services and are now providing those under the brand name Gateway Connect. In fiscal year 2021, Gateway Foundation's Corrections Division operated 72 corrections based programs throughout Delaware, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Texas and Wyoming, providing substance use disorder treatment to men, women, and individuals with co-occurring disorders. Our services are delivered in a variety of correctional treatment settings such as prison, jails and secure community based centers. In addition to treatment, we also provide case management, transitional care and continued care after release. By the end of FY2021, our total clients served per day did increase over FY2020, although not substantially due to COVID. The increased capacity and expansion in Florida and a return of admissions in Missouri were obvious factors in the increase. We were also able to retain our contracts in Missouri and Wyoming, with an expansion of services in Missouri. In FY2021, the Corrections Division served around 5,797 clients per day. Part X, Line 2: The Organization is exempt from income taxes under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code and applicable state law, except for taxes pertaining to unrelated business income, if any. The accounting standard on uncertainty in income taxes addresses the determination of whether tax benefits claimed or expected to be claimed on a tax return should be recorded in the financial statements. Under this guidance, the Organization may recognize the tax benefit from an uncertain tax position only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by taxing authorities, based on the technical merits of the position. Examples of tax positions include the tax-exempt status of the Organization, the continued tax-exempt status of bonds issued by the Organization, and various positions related to the potential sources of unrelated business taxable income (UBIT). The tax benefits recognized in the financial statements from such a position are measured based on the largest benefit that has a greater than 50 percent likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement. Board of Directors, through the Compensation Committee, develops the compensation plan for the executive staff and establishes appropriate salary ranges and other features of the compensation plan. The Chief Executive Officer's compensation is determined by the Compensation Committee. Salaries for the other members of the executive staff are developed by the CEO, within approved parameters, and are approved by the Compensation Committee. All Compensation Committee members are free of conflict, and are required to disclose any potential conflicts at each meeting prior to taking action on any item. Committee meeting minutes include the Committee members conflict of interest responses; should a Committee member disclose a potential conflict, the Committee member is recused, if deemed appropriate by the remainder of the Committee members, and abstains from voting.
