USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation also offers recreational and social tennis opportunities that promote networking, learning (or refreshing) the game, physical activity, and fun. These programs cultivate a vibrant, inclusive tennis community, fostering social connections, physical well-being, and lifelong engagement with the sport. Youth Programs: USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation is committed to introducing tennis to all children and youth in the region, promoting healthy development, physical activity, educational achievement, character building, and social-emotional well-being. Through the USTA's Net Generation resources, we equip physical education teachers with turnkey lesson plans and equipment, making tennis accessible and removing barriers to play. Our youth programs include Junior Team Tennis (JTT) for ages 8-18, Youth Red Ball Team League for beginners, and the USTA Junior Circuit, which provides match play experience focusing on skill development and sportsmanship. Tournaments: USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation ensures local tennis competition for youth and adults of all skill levels, from entry-level to advanced. As players progress, they have opportunities to compete in national tournaments. USTA tournaments feature diverse formats-individual, team, entry-level, non-elimination, and elimination-allowing players to gain experience and compete at their comfort level. Community Tennis and Diversity & Inclusion We work to make tennis inclusive and accessible, supporting a network of National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) chapters, Community Tennis Associations, Parks & Recreation departments, and adaptive tennis providers. We offer training, grants, and resources to help communities introduce and sustain tennis programming. Outreach Programs of Impact: Tennis is growing both as a sport and community-building activity, and the USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation is leading the way with support for the player and tennis provider ecosystem so all people can grow physically, emotionally, and socially through tennis. We are strategically focused on removing barriers that prevent entry and increasing access to the sport. The outreach programs we've developed and implemented with the support of generous donations and grants allow us to make a difference. Junior Player Scholarships to help cover learning, training, and competition costs. Facility Restoration Grants for court construction and maintenance in underserved areas. Community Engagement Grants to support local nonprofit tennis programs. Girls Rule the Court, a free program for under-resourced girls, combining tennis instruction with social-emotional learning. Sportsmanship Recognition honoring players, coaches, and parents committed to a fair and inclusive tennis environment. Volunteer Opportunities supporting events, committees, and special projects.
