We offer financial assistance for basic needs in conjunction with other support services that can best empower community members to avoid homelessness, achieve stability, and move towards sustainability. A volunteer team assesses the individuals situation and determine what resources can best help the individual, whether financial assistance, enrollment in a development program, or referral to another support agency. Payments for assistance are made directly to the servicing agency and not the client. Client participation in MSM support programs serves to monitor use of funds. Form 990, Part III, Line 4d: Other Program Services Description OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: WorkFaith Connection (WFC) - Job readiness training and employment-related support provided on the MSM campus through a collaborative partnership. MSM provides facilities and related services to WFC at no cost. The major changes were to create the Officer position of Executive Director and update the requirements for Board composition and size.Under the original Bylaws, there were three Officer positions: Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer. The amended Bylaws added a fourth, the Executive Director. The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of Main Street Ministries and supervises and controls all of its business and affairs. The Executive Director may execute any deeds, mortgages, bonds, contracts, or other instruments that the Board of Directors have authorized to be executed. The duties of Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary have not substantially changed. The Board elects its Officers annually.The original Bylaws required the Board to be composed of 12 - 18 members, at least 60% of whom were members of the congregation of the First Presbyterian Church of Houston. Under the amended Bylaws, the Board is required to have 8 - 15 members, at least two of whom must be current congregation members.
