Mission Northeast also serves those who are impacted by circumstances beyond their control, such as a fire, loss of job, divorce, death of a spouse or parent, natural disaster, and situations such as COVID. Approximately 40,000 families were assisted in 2021. In 2021 Mission continued to provide assistance for individuals impacted by COVID, particularly as it related to job loss, and provided temporary financial assistance. In 2020 due to COVID Mission implemented drive through food and hygiene supply distribution, and because that system worked so efficiently, it became permanent. Christmas food and gifts were also distributed in this manner. 0 0 339323 Food distribution, benevolence, holiday programs and COVID-19 relief: Distribution of food, clothing, housewares, furnishings and financial assistance for rent and mortgage payments, utilities, minor home repairs and medications for those in need. These services include monthly home delivery of food and other assistance for senior and disabled persons, the "Wheels and a Way to Work" program which provides assistance with gas cards and vehicle repairs so that adult students can get to classes and job training and newly employed persons have a way to get to work, and the Safe Haven Ministry which helps families who live in unsafe environments by assisting with home repairs, yard clean up, wheelchair ramps, utilities, and more. Care Partners are provided to each client family to carefully listen and consider their need and the resources available to them. 16117 Adult education 17865 In 2021 the Mission assisted 34 Montgomery County families by continuing to administer a portion of a federal grant to provide economic relief in response to the COVID 19 pandemic. Pre-screened applicants meeting the necessary criteria were provided with rent/mortgage, utility and/or prescription assistance.
