Earshot normally presents about 100 events per year, but as a presenting organization 2021 looked very different. In the first half of the year, in-person concerts were still restricted. During that time we presented several livestream series and events including 16 free concerts with resident artists livestreamed from the Royal Room, 5 livestream concerts from Town Hall Seattle, the Annual Golden Ear Awards presentation with live music by resident artists, and an all-digital version of the Jazz The 2nd Century Series. In the fall and winter, as Covid restrictions eased, we presented the Annual Earshot Jazz Festival and the Annual Concert of Duke Ellington?s Sacred Music 53 concerts, many of those free of charge to the public. 125828 39719 Publication & Communications: Earshot Jazz is an award winning monthly magazine containing reviews, previews, and profiles on Northwest based artists by Seattle writers, and distributed free of charge throughout the region for more than 30 years. The publication contains the most comprehensive calendar of jazz events in the region. The magazine is available in email format and on earshot.org. The organization's website also contains links to local jazz artists, organizations, and other members of the Seattle jazz community, as well as information on upcoming events. 64831 4262 Community Leadership & Special Projects: Earshot activities include commissioning of new works, producing an annual jazz awards program, booking and consulting with other festivals, providing grant assistance to artists and networking with the regional, national, and international jazz community through consortia work, panels, advocacy activities. In 2021 Earshot produced the 31st annual Golden Ear Awards to recognize achievements in the Seattle and Puget Sound region and to induct significant members of the jazz community into the local Jazz Hall of Fame. In 2021 Earshot hosted several panels on in the community on topics including race and equity.
