The PBAAC was established in order to provide elite credentialing in the field of ABA as it applies to intervention provided to individuals diagnosed with ASD that serves both stakeholders and certified persons. This program uses a rigorous and defensible combination of assessment formats to recognize individuals who meet a high standard of pratice regarding the research and dissemination of Progressive ABA intervention for individuals diagnosed with ASD. More than 30 subject matter experts contributed to the development of the CPBA credentialing over the past four years in a collective effort to help individuals diagnosed with ASD and their families. In August 2021, the PBAAC opened application for its Certified Progressive Behavior Analyst-Autism Professional (CPBA-AP) credential, an autism-specific high-level certification. The PBAAC is currently working on two additional credentials. (See Schedule O). 331978 RESEARCH. APFs Research Team continues to develop and evaluate cutting edge behavioral approaches that make fundamental differences in the lives of children diagnosed with autism. The Research Team has produced more than 140 publcations over the past 10 years, including 100 research articles in peer-reviewed journals, reflecting the collaboration of more than 40 different researchers. The Research Team members also speak at conferences and provide training both in the U.S. and abroad. During 2021, the Research Team produced 14 publications (13 peer reviews and 1 chapter) and delivered 4 virtual presentations. The Research Team also focused on writing books which will be published in 2022. 202643 287616 APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS (ABA) SERVICES, THE ACADEMY. As part of our commitment for individuals with autism to reach their fullest potential and in broadening the community of skilled educators, service providers, and family members, the Academy, a training institute in Seal Beach, CA, was committed to progressing the field of ABA and ASD by promoting expertise in the application of behavioral approaches. The Academy offered 2-year fellowships to post-baccalaureates, graduates, and post-graduates. Through its Academy, APF offered direct line services for children diagnosed with autism. Due to trained staff shortages when the fellowships ended in August 2021, APF paused the Academy to allow our Research and Training Team to focus on research and credentialing. 53618 111206 EDUCATION AND TRAINING. APF is constantly exploring ways of improving the quality of treatment of ASD by investing in educational and training programs focused on developing skilled professionals who train interventionists to deliver comprehensive treatment based on the principals of Applied Behavior Analysis. APF sponsors workshops, provides consultations, and conducts seminars to make training and support available across the U.S. and around the world. APF also hosted the 6th Annual APF Conference where distinguished experts in the field of ABA and ASD join together for a day of education, discussion, and reflection. Four hundred eighty-one behavior analysts, educators, psychologists, speech therapists, and other professionals attended the 2020 5th Annual Conference. In 2021 APF offered a free 40 hour on-line RBT training course; provided a CEU library; and offered an 8 hour Supervision Workshop. The RBT course was attended by 120,398 in 2020 and 88,995 in 2021. Form 990 governing body review Part VI line 11 The Foundations Chairperson/President and its Executive Director thoroughly reviewed and discussed the Form 990 with its CPA/Controller. Following this review, a draft of the complete Form 990 and all schedules was provided to the entire voting board. The board members were provided with a high-level overview of the return, including a discussion of the accountability and transpareny considerations. The board members questions or concerns were thoroughly addressed. Following the final review, a complete copy of the return was provided to each voting member, prior to filing the return with the IRS. Conflict of interest policy compliance Part VI line 12c Under Autism Partnership Foundations Conflict of Interest Policy all interested persons, including any board member, officer or member of a committee with governing board-delegated powers are required to complete the Annual Statement Under Article VI of the Conflict of Interest Policy disclosing any actual or potential conflict of interest. The procedures for addressing any actual or potential conflict of interest include: (1) Presentation by the interested person to the governing board or committee of all material facts; (2) The appointment of a disinterested person or committee to investigate alternatives to the proposed transaction; (3) The consideration of a more advantageous arrangement with persons who are not interested persons; and (4) A majority vote of the disinterested directors is required to determine if any proposed transaction is in the best interest of the organization and is fair and reasonable. Any person with a potential conflict of interest is prohibited from participating in the governing bodys deliberations and decisions for the transaction. In determining and approving the compensation arrangement the Board considers all components of compensation including comparability data. And, if necessary, an independent compensation consultant is retained to prepare a compensation study for the committee. Total compensation is targeted to be between the 50th and 75th percentiles of the comparability data. This program supports APFs mission of identifying effective methodology to improve behavioral treatment of individuals diagnosed with ASD through research and training. APF established the PBAAC to meet this mission.Our extensive research shows when ABA is implemented with a high degree of quality, integrity, and compassion - the outcomes are life changing. The PBAACs credentials allow parents and caregivers to safely ascertai n which treatment providers are trained in the progressive approach to ABA, which requires more training and supervision. Effective high quality intervention - and the PBAAC - require trained interventionists to adapt treatment minute by minute.
