WMFE offers internship opportunities for college students, which include the field of radio news research and reporting. WMFE-FM collaborates with the Department of Emergency Management and the Florida Department of Education as a critical link in the states emergency network during crises when the EOC is activated, such as hurricanes and other natural disasters.
