They submit an essay to describe how the scholarship will help them attain post- secondary education. Also, participants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, completed a minimum of 15 hours/year of volunteer work, and have 10 hours/year of attendance at Con Mi MADRE conferences. A scholarship committee of board members is formed to review applications and present their unanimous top three selections to the Program Director. Students receive notification of their scholarship at the Con Mi MADRE graduation ceremony at the end of the school semester (late May/early June). Recipients are required to confirm the school they are attending and submit official notification of enrollment. Two disbursements are given each year to recipients if they meet all agreed upon requirements, once in the fall and once in the spring.
