EMI's Vision is: people restored by God and the world restored through design. 0 0 4287583 402157 562878 The major program services of EMI USA include providing architectural, engineering, and survey services along with construction management for 107 Projects in 28 countries, sending out teams with more than 102 volunteers and 34 interns. These projects represent design and construction performed for Christian ministries that are hospitals, schools, universities, and child care centers as well as other ministries that are providing water and sanitation development, emergency relief, and disaster response in many parts of the world. Despite significant impacts to international travel from COVID, EMI USA was able to participate in project work in many countries across the globe including South Korea, Zambia, Myanmar, Kenya, Haiti, Gabon, and Kyrgyzstan. Some of the projects were performed without travel to the ministry's site, while others included short-term team trips. In addition to these international conceptual design projects, EMI also began a multi-year effort to improve water, sanitation, and hygiene systems in remote villages in Alaska. Form 990 Engineering Ministries International USA is an exempt organization not required to file Form 990 in accordance with Treasury Section 6033(a)(3)(A)(iii), but does so voluntarily. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 2 Tad Jones, Board Member and Lee Lindeen, Board Member, have a business relationship. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b The Form 990 was prepared by an independent CPA firm, reviewed by the accounting team and Executive Director in detail, and then emailed to all board members for review before it was filed with the IRS. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c Board members and officers sign annual conflict of interest statements. The signed statements are reviewed by the Executive Director and Accountant. Should any potential conflicts of interest be disclosed, the board member or officer would be asked to refrain from participation in any deliberation or decision with regard to matters affected by the relationship. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15 The independent board reviews and approves the CEO's salary. Currently, officers' salaries are reviewed by the CEO. The independent board of directors reviews the compensation criteria of all employees by comparing the current salary structures of both the ministry world and design field world. From there EMI adjusts the salary levels using 4 criteria: 1. years of experience, 2. education, 3. professional capability and 4. pastoral ability Compensation decisions are recorded in the board minutes and compensation packages are reviewed periodically for appropriateness. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, line 19 The governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements are available upon request. The financial statements are also available on EMI's website. Form 990, Part VII: Compensation reported in Part VII, column D is the amount reported on the individual's W-2, box 1 or 5 (whichever amount is greater) per the IRS instructions. In the case of minister's compensation when box 5 of the W-2 is not applicable, box 1 compensation is used. Employee deferrals to qualified retirement plans are normally captured in box 5, not box 1 of Form W-2.
