We also partner with area grocery stores and other food providers from whom we collect, store and distribute other perishable food stuffs and grocery items to clients. Because of the social restrictions during the pandemic, backpacks and school supplies were collected and provided to 3 schools within the service area for distribution to students at a total value of $3780. An additional $23,105 was provided directly from the Dollar Energy for utility assistance for clients directly through COPE screening and referrals of its clients. These funds did not flow through COPE before being paid to the appropriate vendor. These services include assistace with clothing, food and food pantries, furniture, backpacks and school supplies, Christmas gifts and numerous other client services. During 2020 volunteers provided 822 hours of service valued at a rate of $27.20 per hour for a total contribution of $22,358. Form 990, Part III, Line 3 COPE was forced to cease operations from mid-March through mid-August due to the COVID pandemic. During this time some food and household items were still able to be distributed.
