An additional 100 hand sanitizer kits were prepared and distributed in the Sweeny community. To assist families with food purchases due to loss of jobs or reduced working hours because of businesses having to close because of the rising number of Covid-19 case in the county gift cards purchased from local grocery stores were purchased and randomly distributed to shopper at the stores the cards were purchased from. Applications are reviewed for project purpose goals and objectives of the project measurement of outcome marketing plan budget justification and any other additional material submitted. Based on a matrix each member independently score the application in each of the mentioned categories. The scores from each member are totaled for each application. The committee meets to review the total score each application received and discuss the project described in the application. Grants are awarded based on the highest score received or the merits and impact of the project, Part III, line 2 The MLKCC Grant Program launched in 2020. MLKCC initiated a grant program which other non-profit organizations implementing programs that serve the community or provide scholarships to high school students could apply for to help expand current programs or create new programs that serve the community. Community services for the organizations receiving grants included: After-school tutoring and reading programs for students; a day program for children of essential workers to attend to do virtual learning during the height of the covid-19 pandemic; purchase of park equipment for a park created in memory of one of MLKCC's Drum Major recipients diversity training for teachers and police officers; assistance to cancer patients and assisting organizations with funds to award scholarships to students in the school district in which the organizations are located and perform community service. Part VI, Line 11a The 990 Form and all schedules are emailed to all Board Members for review and feedback is requested on the information entered on the form. Part VI, Line 11b The organization's treasurer completes the form 990 and the appropriate schedules or if needed enlist the aid of a CPA or tax consultant to complete the 990 Form. If the tax form are projected to be filed later than the tax deadline an extension will be filed by the treasurer. Once completed a draft copy of the 990 form and schedules are emailed to the Board of Directors to review the responses for appropriateness and feedback. Board approval must be granted before filing. A copy of the filed form and schedules will be provided to the secretary to retain indefinitely and a copy retained by the treasurer. The full form 990 will be retained as an internal document. An electronic copy of the filed form will be available to the Board of Directors. In compliance with the IRS public disclosure the IRS 990 will be made available either on our website or upon written or verbal request. The public disclosure copy will omit the full Schedule B as to protect donor confidentiality.
