There were approximately 46 adults in this program at the end of the fiscal year. St. Vincent's Special Needs Center also operates residential services for children who require 24 hour nursing care. Approximately 6 children were in this program at the end of the fiscal year. The State of Connecticut provided substantially all of the funding for these programs. The adult program began in 1985 and the program for children began in 2001. These programs allow individuals with disabilities "to live in the community" with the assistance of a dedicated residential services staff and support services. Children in residential services receive education and therapeutic services five days a week. 9152832 10445963 The Feroleto Children's Development Center provides a special education school for children with multiple developmental and medical conditions. The school has been certified by the State of Connecticut as an approved private special education program since 1960. It is offered as an alternative placement to school systems for children ages three to twenty-one with multiple developmental and/or medical needs such as cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, seizure disorders, neuro motor diseases and medical conditions requiring nursing support services. The school provided services to approximately 78 students during the fiscal year ended September 30, 2024. 3557817 3586605 Changing Images Work Services addresses the goal of working in the community. St. Vincent's Special Needs Services provides the support, training, job development, and on-site assistance which enable men and women challenged by developmental disabilities to break free of the old stereotypes of "handicapped" workers. For our program participants, it means new opportunities for doing productive, meaningful work, and being paid for it in the business community. Approximately 97 adults were in this program at the end of the fiscal year. Please refer to compensation narrative reported on Schedule O. Part I, Lines 4a-b In 2023, Laurie St. John (Former Key Employee) received a lump sum severance payment in the amount of $267,880. Hartford Healthcare Corporation, a related organization, maintains a 457(f) Supplemental Executive Retirement Plan (SERP). Participants include certain officers and key employees at the President & CEO, Executive Vice President and Senior Vice President levels that are reported by St. Vincent's Special Needs Center, Inc. on its Form 990, Part VII. Contributions are made by Hartford HealthCare Corporation to the plan based on a percentage of the participant's compensation. Participants vest in the plan at the earlier of reaching age 55 and having 5 years of service, death, disability, involuntary separation without reasonable cause, upon reaching age 65 or the occurrence of a change in control. Each participant ceases to be eligible for further contributions by Hartford Healthcare Corporation on the date of the participant's separation from service. St. Vincent's Special Needs Center, Inc. extends Hartford HealthCare's circle of care and support to individuals and their families challenged by special needs through all ages and stages of life. St. Vincent's Special Needs Center, Inc. furthers this goal through a broad spectrum of educational, therapeutic and recreational programming and services. Whenever possible, these programs are inclusive, offering individuals with special needs and those without special needs, opportunities to participate in activities side by side. St. Vincent's Special Needs Center's concern for all human life and the dignity of each person leads the organization to provide these programs and services to all people in the community without regard to the patient's race, creed, national origin, economic status, or ability to pay. In regard to community outreach activities, the organization seeks to improve the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health status of its surrounding community. In addition to the programs listed in Form 990, Part III, St. Vincent's Special Needs Center, Inc. has developed programs to help achieve its mission. Independently, or in cooperation with other organizations, St. Vincent's Special Needs Center, Inc. sponsors speaker programs and takes a leading role in organizing more intensive family education formats. It also provides families with special needs children referrals to specific programs and professional services in other communities. Its website provides many links to other helpful resources for children with special needs enrolled in public school programs and offers an experienced educational consultant to provide objectives, review educational records, provide classroom observation, pre-PPT planning, and support for the child's PPT meeting. The Policy requires updates if changes in circumstances arise during the year that either (a) create a new potential conflict of interest or commitment or (b) change or eliminate a conflict of interest or commitment previously disclosed. Conflict of interest disclosure statements are maintained by the HHC Office of Compliance and Integrity (OCI). Employee and physician disclosures are reviewed by OCI in collaboration with the Covered Individuals' supervisor, when deemed appropriate, to determine if there is a potential conflict.
