FOR EXAMPLE, THE FOUNDATION AWARDED A $100,000 GRANT TO LOS ANGELES FAMILY HOUSING TO SUPPORT RAPID EMERGENCY HOUSING FOR HUNDREDS OF VULNERABLE INDIVIDUALS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS INTO LOCAL MOTELS, AS WELL AS STREET-BASED OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT, PROVIDING HYGIENE AND PROTECTIVE SUPPLIES TO UNSHELTERED RESIDENTS, AND CONNECTING INDIVIDUALS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS WITH LOCAL HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS TO RECEIVE COVID-19 TESTING AND TREATMENT. (B) COVID-19 PHASE TWO RESPONSE GRANTS THE FOUNDATION AWARDED $3 MILLION TO HELP SUSTAIN 19 LOCAL JEWISH NONPROFITS EXPERIENCING ECONOMIC HARDSHIP FROM THE PANDEMIC, PROVIDE DAY SCHOOL AND CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS, AND ADDRESS UNANTICIPATED NEEDS DUE TO COVID-19. FOR EXAMPLE, THE FOUNDATION AWARDED A $101,500 GRANT TO BUILDERS OF JEWISH EDUCATION TO SUPPORT THEIR SHIFT TO REMOTE LEARNING, BUILDING CURRICULUM AND INFRASTRUCTURE ACROSS OVER 140 JEWISH SCHOOLS. GRANTMAKING THROUGH ENDOWMENT FUNDS GRANTS ARE ALSO PROVIDED VIA ENDOWMENT FUNDS THAT THE FOUNDATION MANAGES. AN ENDOWMENT FUND IS CREATED BY SOMEONE FOR ONE OR MORE CHARITABLE PURPOSES, AND IT BECOMES A PERMANENT LEGACY THAT PROVIDES ANNUAL SUPPORT TO A CAUSE OR ORGANIZATION.
