Diverse program offerings for children, adults, families and teens include exciting science theater shows and facilitations, tours, overnight camp-ins, lectures, documentary film screenings, workshops, school break camps, and family activity programs. ExciteEd programs for schools include rigorous teacher professional development classes and See continuation at Schedule Oschool group Field Trip Adventures (classes). Distance learning ExciteEd programs, offered virtually, reached 25 U.S. states, Canada, and South Africa. New Curiosity Kits and Wonder Workshops met students in their own classrooms. The Museum will launch the Curiosity Cruiser in early 2020, a mobile museum to meet people where they are, participating in fairs and festivals across the state. Total Museum attendance in 2019 was 2.3 million, reaching audiences at our City Park location and through a variety of offsite experiences, such as the Dinosaur Gulch exhibit, ExciteEd virtual and classroom experiences, and fairs and festivals. 5971238 126645 Science Division: Museum researchers contribute to scientific knowledge through collection and analysis of data, which are then used to generate and publish new understandings about the earth, its inhabitants, and beyond. The Science staff manages, preserves, and provides access to the Museum's collection of 4.3 million objects and specimens. During 2019, staff fielded 481 research requests from collaborators inside and outside the museum. The Science Division also engages in abundant educational outreach, communicating science to 109,475 members of the general public and its research community through courses, events, tours, lectures, and fieldtrips in 2019 alone. 10,656 of these guests attended collection open houses or behind the See continuation at Schedule Oscenes tours of the Avenir Collections Center. Science staff supervised 67 interns, mentored 25 undergraduate and graduate students, and supervised 758 volunteers. In addition, staff published 34 peer-reviewed papers, books, and book chapters and produced 32 popular articles. Research highlights from the year include a publication in Science magazine on a major paleontological discovery at Corral Bluffs, near Colorado Springs. This work generated a NOVA documentary that aired on PBS called, Rise of the Mammals, was the topic of a temporary pop-up exhibit, After the Asteroid: Earth's Comeback Story, and received significant media coverage of our scientific research, reaching 1.7 billion people. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c Conflict of interest disclosures are completed yearly by trustees, officers, and key employees. Potential conflicts, whether initially disclosed or subsequently discovered, are reviewed by the Nominating and Governance Committee to determine if a conflict actually exists. The Nominating and Governance Committee provides a report of conflicts and Committee decisions to the Board yearly. Trustees, officers, or directors that may have a conflict are prohibited from participating at both the Committee and/or Board level in deliberations regarding any potential or actual conflict. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15 The Compensation Committee of the Board of Trustees is responsible for evaluating the performance, compensation, and benefits of the President/CEO as well as those in a position to exercise substantial influence over the affairs of the Museum, including the officers and senior administrative staff. The Compensation Committee solicits feedback annually from the Board of Trustees and senior staff regarding the President/CEO's performance. This feedback is reviewed and discussed by the Compensation Committee in conjunction with comparable salary data. After deliberation, the Committee's recommendations are presented to the Board of Trustees Chair who informs the President/CEO of compensation and benefits for the upcoming year. The Chair reports final salary decisions to the entire Board of Trustees at the next available board meeting. The President/CEO conducts, annually, a performance review of each member of the Senior Leadership Team. Using comparable salary data and compensation adjustment guidelines reviewed by the Board of Trustees, the President/CEO determines the compensation and benefits for each member of the Senior Leadership Team. The President/CEO then presents this information to the Compensation Committee for their review and approval. Minutes are kept for each meeting of the Compensation Committee.
