<Desc>4a. Healthy Living - The Ann Arbor YMCA is a leading voice on improving the health and well being of the Washtenaw County and S. Livingston communities. We bring families together, foster connections and encourage good health through shared fitness, recreational and social activities. Health and well-being are all about balance. That's why we help individuals and families build and maintain healthy habits for spirit, mind and body in their everyday lives. By helping people of all ages and all backgrounds improve their health and well-being, we build a stronger community. As a result, 27,333 individuals in the Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti and surrounding Washtenaw county and Southern Livingston community are receiving the support and resources to achieve health in spirit, mind and body. This is particularly important as our nation struggles with an obesity crisis, families struggle with work/life balance issues and individuals search for personal fulfillment. The Y has a number of programs designed to fight chronic disease and is committed to empowering our community to lead fuller lives. Our healthy living programs include Pedaling for Parkinson's ; a bicycle program to help reduce disease symptoms, Livestrong; a free fitness and support program for cancer survivors, Diabetes Prevention Program, Arthritis Exercise, Moving for a Better Balance, Mood Lifters and Gender Embodiment Workshops. In 2019 over 260 people participated in these programs. Y programs are accessible, affordable and open to all faiths, backgrounds, abilities and income levels. In 2019 the Ann Arbor Y provided $820,664 in financial assistance to individuals who would have faced economic barriers to participation in the areas of Healthy Living, Youth Development and Social Responsibility.</Desc>

<Desc>4b. Youth Development - Summer Camps. The YMCA is committed to nurturing the potential of every child and teen. We believe that all children deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. In 2019 The Y offered camp programs for youth ages 5-16 at two Ypsilanti sites, downtown Ann Arbor, Silver Lake in Pinckney (Camp Birkett) as well as a residential camp in northern Michigan on Burt Lake (Camp Al-Gon Quian). Summer programs are rooted in the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility while being intentional about fostering friendships, a sense of accomplishment, and belonging for all. Our day camp programs in Washtenaw County and on Burt Lake at Camp Al-Gon-Quian provide a safe community where young people explore, build self-esteem and interpersonal skills and make lasting friendships and memories. We continue to expand our LIT and CIT programs so children can experience leadership while participating in programs that expand on those skills. Our programming for children grew in 2019 with additioanl locations to partipate throughout the county. We are especially proud of the Y on the Fly program started in July 2019 which brings programs to children in Ypsilanti and Pickney with plans to grow to other parts of the county. We meet children where they are to provide healthy activities, a healthy snack and an opportunity to interact with other children in the community. In 2019, the Ann Arbor YMCA served 1,408 children enrolled in day camps in Washtenaw County and S. Livingston County and 1,181 campers attended residential Camp Al-Gon-Quian on Burt Lake. 1,557 children participated in swim programs and 429 Children participated in free Safety around water programs. Over 600 campers received campership in 2019 to attend Y summer programs.</Desc>

<Desc>4c. Youth Development/Social Reponsibility programming includes Child Care, Teen Education, Leadership and Youth Volunteer programs. Y youth development programs give children and teens a safe place to belong, build confidence and learn positive behaviors. Child Development: The YMCA's NAEYC-accredited Early Child Care and After School programs provide a nurturing environment where children can learn, grow and develop social skills. These programs guide children through an age-appropriate curriculum that develops self-help skills and instills the Y values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility among children and their families. An additional element to Y child care programs is the healthy eating physical activity curriculum implemented to help reduce childhood obesity. The YMCA's school age Child Care Program and Teen after School Program provide a safe, comfortable environment for children that includes healthy snacks and help with homework, plus physical indoor and outdoor activities with our caring staff. In 2019, the Y continue to expand and grow its child care programs in the county by growing number of participants at the Ypsilanti Child Development Center started in 2019 rin collaboration with Eastern Michigan University (EMU), Ypsilanti Housing Commission (YHC) and Ypsilanti Community Schools (YCS). The Center serves families from these collaborators and families within the community with three bright classrooms and extended hours just one mile from the EMU campus. Additional in July we added another center in collaboration with Glacier Hills and the Trinity Health System with four additional classrooms in the community. in 2019 we had 118 children enrolled in Child Development Centers within the county. As we have surpassed the one year operating requirement we are expecting both locations to become NAEYC - accredited child development centers. . The Y makes it possible for families of all backgrounds and income levels to participate in our programs on a sliding fee scale with scholarships available in all our programs. We have been so fortunate to work with our partners in the community to continue to make funding available so families can have more childcare options the community near to where they work or attend school. At the Y, we help teens set and achieve their goals. Through Teen Education and Leadership programs, including the Teen After School Program, Youth in Government and Leaders Club, teens ages 11-17 have the opportunity to develop self-confidence and take an active role in strengthening their community. Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) is a youth driven volunteer program for young people ages 11-17. YVC engages youth in service-learning projects that are challenging, rewarding and educational to serve the need of the community and promote a lifetime ethic of service. YVC is offered as an accredited Community Resource Class (Creating and Maintaining Socially Just Communities with the YVC Corps) in the Ann Arbor Public Schools for grades 9-12. In 2019, 289 youth volunteers collaborated on 191 service projects within the county and delivered over 8,200 hours in community service with 37 non-profit agencies. Michigan Youth in Government (YIG) is a comprehensive program that teaches state governmental process in a fun, interactive and exciting way. Participants learn about bill-writing, parliamentary procedure, current issues facing the state of Michigan, and much more. In 2019 over 80 middle and high school students from Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti participated in the YIG program. Representatives from the Ys middle school delegation were elected as Lieutenant Governor and Speaker of the House by their peers at the state-wide conference. Leaders Club - Leaders Club provides teens opportunities for personal growth and leadership development. Club meetings encourage character development through activities such as team-building, group work, volunteering for YMCA events, interning within a YMCA department, leadership training and much more. In addition we had 27,649 hours of volunteer work donated by 533 adults and youth in the community. These hours included coaching youth sports teams, serving as policy volunteers, helping in after school pograms, facilitating and participating in youth leadership programs. Many of our volunteers work on our Annual Campaign each year to raise funds for Y programs and scholarships. In 2019 we had 127 campaigners and 1,312 donors raise $393,160 for children and adults to participate in programs throughout Washtenaw and S. LIvingston Counties.</Desc>

<Desc>4d. Youth Development/ Social Responsibility - Swim, Sports and Play. Through active play children learn the lifetime value of staying physically fit. Year-round youth sports, martial ways, gymnastics, swimming, and outreach programs help young people cultivate the skills, values and relationships that lead to positive behaviors and better health. The Ann Arbor YMCA has partnered with a number of other community organizations to identify and respond to community needs. Swimming is an essential life skill, particularly in a state where one is never more than six miles from a lake or stream. The Y offers a week of free SAFETY AROUND WATER classes both at the downtown Y facility and at apartment complexes in Washtenaw County, as well as swim classes for both youth and adults, a swim team and a synchronized swimming program. Our Y was awarded a generous grant of $20,000 annually for four years from The Women's Sports Foundation (WSF) and Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation through the new Regional Sports 4 Life program to fund the Young Women Making Waves Program, a swim program for under-served girls in eastern Washtenaw County. In 2019, 429 children were provided with a week of free water safety lessons and 1,557 children participated in swim programs. For a third year, The Ann Arbor YMCA, in collaboration with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office, Ypsilanti Community Schools and Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Department, offered the East Washtenaw Basketball League program, which provided ten weeks of basketball league for Ypsilanti students in grades 6-12 at the Ypsilanti Community Middle School. The program's mission is to provide enriching programs that connect youth in Eastern Washtenaw County with opportunities to engage with caring adults outside of school and home life. In 2019 over 900 children participated in organized sports programs focused on skill and character development.</Desc>

The first Maureen Harding Endowment is to be used for training classes for Ann Arbor YMCA staff to enable them to teach classes at the Ann Arbor YMCA. The second Camp Al-Gon-Quian Endowment is for scholarships and capital expenditures for camp to ensure the strength of the program and the forever existence of the camp. In 2018 a fund was established at the AAACF with YMCA unrestricted funds and a 50,000 match was made by the foundation. These funds are managed by the AAACF and proceeds can be used for highest need in the organization as part of mission work in Washtenaw and S. LIvingston County. The AAACF fund is subject to the Community Fondation's investment and spending policies.</ExplanationTxt>

In 2019 over 900 children participated in organized sports programs focused on skill and character development.</ExplanationTxt>

<ExplanationTxt>All board members and officers of the Association are required to review the conflict of interest policy and complete the related questionnaire annually. There are no staff members who qualify as key employees, requiring them to complete the questionnaire. The CFO reviews the responses to the questionnaire, documents potential conflicts and provides a summary report to the Executive Committee of the Board. The Chair of the Board periodically reminds the board members and the officers, who also attend board meetings, of their responsibility to notify a member of the Executive Committee if there is a change in personal or professional relationships that may create a new conflict of interest. In addition, several members of the Executive Committee are also members of the Finance Committee, which provides a further oversight and compliance capability. All significant financial transactions are reviewed and discussed at the committee level, including those involving potential conflicts of interest, before presentation to the Board. If a board member has a conflict due to an affiliation organization they would recuse themselves from a vote related to the approval by the board.</ExplanationTxt>

The Executive Committee's overall evaluation of performance is based on categories outlined in the Organization's salary administration plan and pre-agreed-upon annual goals for the CEO. Compensation data is compiled for CEO's of other YMCA's and other non-profits with similar size budgets in the Organization's geographic region. The results are compared to the current CEO pay range established in accordance with the modified Hay Plan charts provided by the YMCA of USA and utilized for all exempt and non-exempt staff positions in the Organization. The salary review process and subsequent adjustment are documented with the signatures of all the members of the Executive Committee, indicating their participation, concurrence and completion date.
