Funds exist to provide healthcare leadership and development support, to support educational lectures, and to provide scholarships, etc. Part X, Line 2: The Foundation is a tax-exempt organization under Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3). The accounting standard on Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes addresses the determination of whether tax benefits claimed or expected to be claimed on a tax return should be recorded in the consolidated financial statements. Under this guidance, the Organization may recognize the tax benefit from an uncertain tax position only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by taxing authorities, based on the technical merits of the position. Examples of tax positions include the tax-exempt status of the Organization and various positions related to the potential sources of unrelated business taxable income (UBTI). There were no unrecognized tax benefits identified or recorded as liabilities for the reporting periods included in these consolidated financial statements. For the Foster G. McGaw and Albert W. Dent individual scholarship grants (to members only), the Foundation's scholarship committee processes candidate applications, confirms eligibility, confirms participation in an accredited MHA program, evaluates candidates and selects award winners. The Foundation of the American College of Healthcare Executives established this scholarship in honor of Albert W. Dent, the first African-American Fellow of ACHE. This scholarship is offered to provide financial aid to minority students in healthcare management graduate programs to help offset tuition costs, student loans and exepenses. Offered annually, the Albert W. Dent Sholarship is designated for minority students enrolled in their final year of a healthcare management graduate program. Each scholarship is worth $5,000. Between the McGaw and Dent scholarships, ACHE awards up to 15 scholarships each year. The American College of Healthcare Executives sponsors the annual Richard J. Stull Student Essay Competition in Healthcare Management. The purpose of the competition is to stimulate and demonstrate the ability of future healthcare executives to identify and describe important issues and developments in their chosen profession. Cash prizes are awarded to the first-place, second-place, and third-place essayists in both graduate and undergraduate divisions. The Snook Education Fund grants scholarships to members of the Healthcare Leadership Network of the Delaware Valley. All discussions are contemporaneously documented. Any changes deemed necessary were made to the 990. Also, all staff are required to submit an annual statement regarding the conflict of interest policy and their compliance.
