The allowance is for purchases up to $5,000 and is grossed up 50% to ensure the volunteer is not impacted financially by the clothing compensation. The AACN bylaws state that "any person who is interested in any aspect of critical-care nursing and who subscribes to the mission of AACN, agrees to abide by its charter and Bylaws, and meets such other criteria for membership as may be established by these Bylaws or by the Board of Directors, shall be eligible for membership." Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7a Nominations to the AACN Board of Directors are accepted from the full membership. Nominated candidates are vetted by the AACN Nominating Committee (comprised of appointed and elected members) who determines the slate of candidates for the ballot. There is no approval by the Board as the AACN directors are elected by the membership.
