Focusing on children who are at risk, CYCLE and ISDs select elementary schools and work with administrators and teachers to offer earn-a-bike contracts to all students who want one. Those contracts call for children to improve their performance in academics, attitudes and behaviors. The contracts are aimed at achieving better literacy. Once children receive their bicycles, they use them for fun, exercise and as basic transportation. It does compensate its Executive Director following the process described below:1. Information is gathered from Board Members (primarily) and other charities about comparable compensation for persons serving in a similar capacity in other charitable organizations and in commercial businesses.2. The performance of the individual is assessed by the President and key board members.3. The capabilities and needs of CYCLE are assessed4. The proposed salary is presented to the board for approval, the salary is set, and written records documenting the process are retained. B - Sch. of Contributors The contributions reported in Schedule B are considerably lower than those received due to IRS restrictions on how amounts are reported there. The major differences are: (1) in-kind donations of services and facilities are not reported, (2) contributions from related entities and family members are reported separately and (3) contributions are reduced by any benefits provided by CYCLE in exchange for such contributions.
