Part X, Line 2: The Conservancy has been classifed as a publicly supported, tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (the Code), and is exempt from California franchise taxes under Revenue and Taxation Code Section 23701(d). The Conservancy follows FASB ASC Topic 740 Income Taxes to account for uncertain tax positions. Management evaluated the Conservancy's tax positions and concluded that the Conservancy had maintained its tax-exempt status and had taken no uncertain tax positions that require adjustment to the financial statements. Therefore, no provision or liability for income taxes has been included in the financial statements. The Conservancy is generally no longer subject to income tax examinations by federal and state authorities for years prior to 2013 and 2012, respectively.
