Comparisons are made with other cooperatives on a state and regional basis to establish adequacy of such benefits. Compensation levels are administered by the General Manager. The due date of the return falls just after an extremely busy time for cooperative staff as we are completing the year ending audit and the year ending reporting to the Tennessee Valley Authority from whom we purchase electricity. However primarily, this late filing is due to forgetfulness. I understand this is probably not considered a reasonable cause but I would sincerely request leniency. To the best of my knowledge, this is the only time that this return has been filed late. Also as a non-profit organization with no taxes being due, any penalties charged are taken away from the intended purpose of providing reliable electric service to our member/owners at the lowest possible cost.
