Our services are open to all. 0 1 16680275 0 18137755 Developmental Services: LFSVA offers a wide continuum of care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities so that they may live in their preferred community setting. Our services, which include group homes, day support, adult foster care (Family Care Homes) and in-home support, use a person-centered approach that helps individuals meet their medical, dietary, behavioral, personal care and daily living needs, as well as achieve the maximum degree of independence. An exciting development is the addition of services, including a new community-based day support model in Northern Virginia. All services are for adults 18 years of age or older, except for in-home support which is provided to all ages. Services are available in more than half of Virginia's cities and counties. We now have more than 180 Family Care Homes and during the year ended June 30, 2016, we helped 392 individuals live fuller, more complete lives. 6360690 0 7858384 Minnick Schools - LFSVA Minnick Schools, located in Roanoke (2 sites), Harrisonburg, Wytheville, Wise and Bristol, work with public schools in three dozen localities. During the 2016 school year we helped 241 students reach their academic and behavioral goals, with 17 children transitioning back to their local schools. All Minnick Schools offer individualized instruction and the staff works closely with the public schools that place the students, and also with their families. A rounded curriculum is aligned with the state Standards of Learning. In three locations we offer students the opportunity to work in a PAES lab, a vocational classroom that helps students prepare for the world of work. With the goal that students will transfer their new behavioral and life skills from the classroom to home and from home to the community, we give children many opportunities to learn and practice. Our autism program offers individualized instruction geared to the unique needs of students and their families. These classrooms are based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), successful, research-based strategies that systematically teach behavior in a highly-structured environment, and all staff are trained in ABA strategies. To prevent more restrictive out-of-school placements, we offer educational aides to assist students in the program. 2558949 2411354 Treatment Foster Care & Adoption - LFSVA recruits and trains therapeutic foster parents so that children in foster care will have a stable, loving home environment while they are healing from the situation that caused the family disruption. We provide in-home services and emergency access to an agency social worker 24/7. Our goal is to help children move toward permanency. Because many of our families adopt the children they foster, we offer families the option to be certified as both foster and adoptive parents. Our in-depth training on parenting and support throughout the adoption process is considered one of the best such programs in the state. During the year ended June 30, 2016, we helped 70 children in foster care find homes in which to heal and grow. In addition to providing services to individuals and couples who wish to adopt from foster care, we also offer outpatient mental health services by an adoption-competent professional who understands the unique nature of building a family through adoption. Also, our counselors provide Training for Adoption Competency (TAC) for mental health professionals to increase the number of adoption-competent mental health clinicians to serve adoptive families in Virginia. During the year ended June 30, 2016, 32 individuals received post-adoptive counseling and 4 children found permanent, loving families through LFSVA. 1854509 0 1900416 Community-Based Services - (Expenses $1,854,509, Revenues $1,900,416) LFSVA is committed to helping families deal constructively with problems and crises so that they can remain together as healthy families. Community-based services include behavioral treatment services, in-home counseling, intensive in-home services, therapeutic support services, social groups and "Essential Pieces", vital education and supports for families with children on the autism spectrum. By providing research-based, community-centered services, we work to eliminate the need for out-of-home, out-of-community or out-of-state placements. During the year ended June 30, 2016, we provided these services to 111 individuals, supporting and strengthening families. Community-based services also include Therapeutic Day Treatment (TDT), which is a school-based program that provides services to help children overcome the mental health, emotional, behavioral and substance abuse issues that create barriers to learning. LFSVA staff members develop interventions that help children improve behavior, which allows them to participate more fully in the classroom. During the year ended June 30, 2016, we provided TDT services to 157 children. LFSVA works to ensure that total compensation (including benefits) for all employees is at or above the minimum levels established by the compensation study for each job classification, with the goal being that average employee compensation within the Organization will be at the median level established by the study, as updated annually. The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees conducts an annual performance evaluation of the President and CEO, and also sets the compensation level for the CEO.
