ProSalud believes the most effective way to build healthy communities is to empower the people living there to learn to care for their health. ProSalud trains promotoras (certified community health workers) to provide health information, education, access to health programs and intervention in a linguistically correct and culturally relevant way that enables people to make sound, factually-based decisions. Access to Health-ProSalud participates in health related community events providing screenings and health education (292). We also have office hours in the Neighborhood Centers Inc. Baker-Ripley Center and other sites to offer information and help assisting clients in applications for health services and referrals to low cost clinics (5753). The car seat program teaches clients about proper car seat size, installation and option to purchase a low cost correct seat. This is in collaboration with Safe Kids Greater Houston.
