We provide educational resources, evidence-based prevention education to local schools, and maintain a library of prevention materials for distribution throughout the community to promote an alcohol and drug free life style. These initiatives are made possible by working with the federal Drug Free Communities and the statewide Substance Abuse Prevention programs. An estimated 40,000 residents have heard or seen our messages though local media campaigns including television spots, radio spots, billboards, and newspaper inserts. We support youth initiatives by hosting a local RAZE Crew, a youth lead anti-tobacco program consisting of 11 current members, in addition to supporting other Crews in the community. 68419 The Parents as Teachers Program is an in home family education program that works with families who are prenatal through kindergarten entry. Certified parent educators conduct twice monthly home visits that center on the childs development as well as working to strengthen the family. In addition to home visits the program offers monthly group connections, where families come together to support and encourage each other. 45941 Our Family Resource Center is a safe place for families to receive material on their childrens development and parenting skills, and receive information and referrals to other community agencies and services as needed. The Center is open to all families in Hancock and Brooke counties. Our FRC offers support and coordination of services to address the needs of the community. Approximately 30,000 residents have benefitted. The organization has several committees. Our disability committee is a support group that provides social activities for people with disabilities and their families and brings education and awareness to the community. The concerned citizens started a local soup kitchen and provide weekend food for local underprivileged children. Another committee plans and organizes a resource day where community agencies display and discuss information for all community members. This year we secured funding for Kelseys Christmas and Christian Fellowship Food Ministry. The first provides gifts and entertainment to children suffering through cancer treatments at Christmas time, the second is a Sunday night meal for all with a Christian message.
