The program was started January 2003 on funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation as a national initiative with the intent that these programs after startup would become self-suffient. Many across the country did not survive because of a lack of funding. Ours has survived because it was felt that CTM provides an important service to the community. Funding comes from donations and Immanuel Lutheran Communities. There are no program services revenue generated. The program is a coalition of church and support service agencies collaborating with the healthcare community. Volunteer teams meet short-term, non-medical needs of seniors who desire to remain in their homes, thus enhancing quality of life. Non-medical needs may include: transportation to doctor appointments, grocery shopping, minor household chores, phone calls, general outings and companionship. Immanuel Lutheran Communities provides supervision, training and support for the congregational teams. The agreement effectively changed our interest rate exposure on $14,000,000 of variable rate revenue bonds due December 2021 to a fixed rate of 4.52%. The interest rate swap agreement matures at the same time the related revenue bonds mature. The fair market value of the agreement is $941,354 as of June 30, 2013 is recognized as a liability on the balance sheet.
