The temporary restricted portion of the endowment funds on the audited financial statements is the investment income earned on the permanent endowments utilized for expenditures based on the donor documents. Description of Uncertain Tax Positions Under FIN 48: Part X, Line 2: St. Vincent's Foundation of Alabama is a not-for-profit organization that is exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Therefore, no provision for federal income taxes has been made in the financial statements. In June 2006, the FASB issued Interpretation No. 48, Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes (FIN 48), which clarifies the Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Tax Positions recognized in the financial statements in accordance with FASB Statement No. 109, Accounting for Income Taxes. FIN 48 prescribes a recognition threshold and measurement for the financial statement recognition threshold and measurement for the financial statement recognition and measurement of a tax position taken or expected to be taken in a tax return. Effective June 30, 2009, St. Vincent's Foundation of Alabama adopted FIN 48. The adoption of FIN 48 did not have a material impact on the Foundation's financial position or results of operation.
