Race is not a determining factor for admission, and scholarships are based on need. Children who come to live at Agua Viva are typically placed voluntarily by their family members for their own safety and well-being. No records of children's race are kept, because racial heritage is not considered at all. Agua Viva accepts all children living close enough to the school/orphanage that cannot afford an education elsewhere.
