Since 1880, the organization has entertained several generations of individuals in various concert halls, public parks, schools, churches and elsewhere. Nearly 250,000 people listen to music presented by the organization every year. In addition to the concerts at Powell Hall, more than one-third of the organization's audiences hear musicians perform at parks, schools, churches and other venues throughout the region. In addition, more than 40% of the total audience for all the performances during the year pays little or nothing to hear those performances. The organization's best-known educational programs are its three series of education concerts in Powell Hall, which began in the 1920s and today serve over 30,000 students annually. In addition to educating and entertaining youngsters at Powell Hall, the musicians make nearly 150 visits to local schools each season. Many of these visits occur through the E.
