Over 50,000 children under the age of 5 were screened for malnutrition in Sierra Leone under a UNICEF grant. During well and latrine construction, WHI provided training to community members in well and latrine maintenance. In response to one of the worst cholera outbreaks in the country's history, WHI chlorinated 265 wells in Sierra Leone. There were zero cholera-related deaths in the villages where WHI's Water & Sanitation programs operate.
