From the 91,289 people who registered to give whole blood, platelets and plasma, Blood Bank of Delmarva (BBD) collected and processed 77,368 units, from which were prepared 106,610 transfusable blood products for distribution to 16 regional hospitals on the Delmarva Peninsula. 73,473 red cell, 15,557 platelet and 16,690 plasma units were shipped and transfused saving the lives of patients in and around the BBD region. In order to ensure the safety of the blood supplied, BBD performed 1,041,369 infectious disease tests. BBD provides cross matching services for patients of the hospitals in order to assure compatibility during and post transfusion. These services include ABO, Rh and antibody identification, antibody screening, direct antiglobulin and antigen negatives. 211076 0 1532595 Blood Bank of Delmarva reserves excess plasma gathered during whole blood collection and pools it for biweekly shipment to a fractionator that identifies and extracts elements in the plasma to produce protein-rich cryoprecipitates, such as albumin, which can assist patients to stop bleeding and can help patients to increase immunity after exposure to infectious agents. 680064 0 0 MEMBERSHIP, DONORSHIP and COMMUNITY EDUCATION. BBD serves over 1.3 million people on Delmarva Peninsula. To effectively manage the recruitment of donors, BBD has developed a unique membership plan, in which 159,444 families participate and which generates $2,406,269 of Contributions. Many of the members are employed by the 2,174 companies that support the life-saving gift of blood donation. 190,380 notices were mailed and 612,954 phone calls were made to fill blood draw schedules. 11,786 students gave blood at 130 blood drives held at 81 schools. In order to insure a safe blood supply, BBD mailed 314 letters and made 5,957 phone calls to donors that tested positive for infection. Communications through advertising media, including BBD's website, provide educational materials to the public. In order to focus on the forefront of blood banking, BBD held 52 training sessions attended by 830 participants, which included BBD staff and employees of the local hospitals. BBD also provided hands-on clinical experience to students from 2 universities in BBD labs. BBD employees hold roles in regional and national blood banking organizations and in local Rotary clubs. The Executive Board reviews the recommendation of the Compensation Committee and establishes the CEO compensation and bonus by majority vote. Other highly compensated employees - Salary range and annual increase guidelines are established by the organization's review of market survey data. The CEO establishes the compensation and bonus for highly compensated employees. It was my understanding that the IRS was not accepting returns from January 1 to February 29. Due to accessability of key indiviuals in our organization, this is the soonest that we could file after 02/29/2012.
