At City of Fort Worth Summer Nutrition sites with exceptionally high percentages of children in need, 2,500 children received packs of weekend food from the Food Bank each Friday from June through mid-August in the SummerPacks for Kids program. 465245 The Community Kitchen program has three dimensions: (1) Basic culinary skills training for low-income adults seeking work in food services; (2) Utilization of surplus prepared and perishable foods donated by local grocery chains; and (3) Conversion of much of this surplus food into nutritious meals for distribution by the Food Bank's partner charities.
