Agency allocations: We provide support by investing in helping kids succeed, increasing self sufficiency, improving health and healing, and responding to emergencies. The agencies that we support are based on a board established budget. The expenses are incurred uniformly for all agencies served. During the 2009-2010 fiscal year we supported the following 22 local agencies:1. American Red Cross: Responded to 28 families in need from home fires, total of 120 clients, 45 being children. $22,929 in rent assistance, for clothing, personal care products, etc. United Way Allocation: $12,381. Donor Designated: $2,386. Total Allocation: $14,767.2. ARC of GH: Advocated and supported a better quality of life for citizens with developmental disabilities and their families. 18 participants in their summer program, 42 in the monthly madness program. United Way Allocation: $4,832. Donor Designated: $100. Total Allocation: $4,932. 3. Behavioral Health Resources: Received 1,676 calls on the crisis line. Served 183 clients with 2,408 total bed nights. United Way Allocation: $1. Donor Designated: $384. Total Allocation: $385.4. Beyond Survival: Provided advocacy for victims of sexual assault; 188 new clients, 109 children, 28 adults, and 51 adults abused as children. United Way Allocation: $0. Donor Designated: $990. Total Allocation: $990.5. Boy Scouts: 431 scouts from Grays Harbor & Pacific County are assisted in various programs. United Way Allocation: $367. Donor Designated: $1,824. Total Allocation: $2,191.6. Catholic Community Services: Served 19,663 meals with the Meals on Wheels program in Grays Harbor. United Way Allocation: $12,781. Donor Designated: $1,248. Total Allocation: $14,029. 7. Children's Advocacy Center of GH: Provided crisis childcare to 235 children, or 49 families, in the Rainbow House Crisis Nursery, along with brief counseling to 42 families that did not need childcare assistance. Coastal Harvest: Served 487,074 clients or 3,410,056 pounds of food; serving 40 food banks, 5 senior centers and 5 tribes. 279,808 individuals from Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties were served. United Way Allocation: $13,628. Donor Designated: $6,648. Total Allocation: $20,276.9. Community Youth Services: 21 youth from GH were served at the Haven House for 144 bed nights of care. Community Opportunities for Parenting Education: COPE was able to provide parenting education and counseling for 56 teen parents, in addition to the childcare and early childhood learning for 43 children. Crisis Support Network: Services from prevention and awareness of sexual assault and domestic violence in Pacific County; 750 kids, preschool to 5th grade, during school hours. Domestic Violence Center (Shelter Program): Provided a safe and comfortable environment during crisis for 28 women (507 bed nights) and 17 children (300 bed nights). United Way Allocation: $6,615. Girl Scouts: Provided programs for 387 girls and 153 adults volunteers; providing direct financial aid of $4,963 to 43 members for camp, dues, membership fees, etc. United Way Allocation: $4,891. Harbor After School: 257 students utilized the tutoring, enrichment activities and recreation games programs at least 30 times or more, 394 students used at 1 time or more. Long Term Care Ombudsman: Volunteers were enlisted and trained to advocate for residents of Long Term Care facilities, 307 Routine Visits were made and 37 complaint investigations. Rebuilding Together: Home modifications were provided for 36 families, 19 wheelchair ramps, 21 stair or porch replacements, 62 grab bar installations, 9 floor repairs, 39 handrails, 71 smoke detectors, and 23 fire extinguishers were installed. Retired & Senior Volunteer Program: 514 Senior Peer Counselors volunteered 163,424 hours within Grays Harbor & Pacific County. United Way Allocation: $5,007. Donor Designated: $384. Total Allocation: $5,391.19. Salvation Army: Family services helped 9,627 people, counseled 857, provided food for 11,464, and gave Thanksgiving/Christmas Holiday support to 1,624 persons locally. Senior Companion: Part-time volunteer logged over 14,174 hours of supportive person-to-person assistance to 33 adults with needs in health, daily living, and socialization in Grays Harbor and Willapa Harbor ages 60 and over. Senior Nutrition (Meals on Wheels): Grays Harbor County home delivered meals to 28,760 vulnerable elderly adults, 60+ years of age, plus an additional 31,525 meals at congregate sites. Total meals served: 60,285. United Way Allocation: $46,608. Donor Designated: $3,693. Total Allocation: $50,301.22. South Beach Christian Outreach: Issued 320 food vouchers, with fed 414 adults and 222 children. United Way Allocation: $4,960. Donor Designated: $0. Total Allocation: $4,960.23. UW Emergency Fund: A total of 283 households were assisted; average of $129.77 per household. Assistance was provided for the following: water (45), PUD (23), prescriptions (76), move in costs (20), dental (59), eviction prevention (17), shelter/motel (9), and misc. other (34).
