DescThe Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) was founded in 1951 as an Illinois not-for-profit corporation. In 2017 RIC with 182 beds, began doing business as the Shirley Ryan Abilitylab (SRAlab) and moved to a new building with 242 licensed beds. This move brought not only a physical change of address but a whole new model to the field of rehabilitation. Upon opening the 1.2-million-square-foot SRAlab became the first-ever "translational" rehabilitation research hospital in which clinicians, scientists, innovators and technologists work together in the same space, surrounding patients, discovering new approaches and applying (or "translating") research in real time. SRAlab's vision is to advance human ability through science and research. The organization has earned the distinction of being named the nation's #1-ranked provider of comprehensive physical medicine and rehabilitation care to patients from around the world every year since the designation's inception in 1992 by U.S. News & World Report - a record for any U.S. hospital. In addition to being a large rehabilitation hospital, SRAlab is the nation's largest rehabilitation research enterprise, advancing the field globally through innovation of the most advanced treatments and technologies. For FY 2025 SRAlab's system of care included a 262-bed hospital located at 355 East Erie Street in Chicago and numerous outpatient and day rehabilitation programs in the Chicago metropolitan area and surrounding suburbs. In addition, we manage the rehabilitation service line in several acute care hospitals through our strategic alliance platform, primarily in the Chicagoland area. We completed our second full year managing the inpatient rehabilitation service at Hennepin Healthcare. In addition, we began managing the rehabilitation service line within Henry Ford Health. The Corporation offers a comprehensive range of inpatient, day rehabilitation and outpatient rehabilitation services. Inpatient rehabilitation services are provided using an interdisciplinary approach with a team bringing unique skills and knowledge to ensure patients achieve the best possible outcomes. Day rehabilitation is a similar model to inpatient in that it consists of an interdisciplinary approach for individuals. Once the patient does not require 24-hour nursing care and daily medical management, we are able to transition patients to the day rehabilitation model. Outpatient care is typically a singular discipline (e.g., physical therapy) and offers various levels of therapeutic intensity, depending on the patient's needs and goals. In FY 2025, our total net revenue grew by 4.9% resulting in $0.8M in net operating income, $0.8M better than budget. We improved financial ratios and exceeded debt covenant metrics, including debt service coverage ratio and days cash on hand (more than 411 days at year-end). In addition, Fitch Ratings upgraded Shirley Ryan AbilityLab's credit rating to A+ with stable outlook. Inpatient admissions to the Flagship facility were 1% below prior year; however, average daily census grew 2% relative to prior year. The day rehabilitation programs grew 3% year over year and the outpatient therapy programs were 2% below prior year. Our total research grant portfolio exceeds $150M. SRAlab offers the ability for patients to participate in research at the same time they are receiving clinical care. Since inception, SRAlab has worked relentlessly to develop and implement interventions that drive the very best outcomes. SRAlab serves patients with the most complex conditions with multiple medical and rehabilitation issues. The Advancement Department is in year 3 of the Accelerate Ability Campaign with an aim to raise money to support research initiatives and quality of life programs. Approximately $85M was raised and more than $20M secured in bequests toward a $100M goal. We continue our planning for a new and unique partnership with Henry Ford Healthcare, the Gilbert Family Foundation and Michigan State University which will allow us to bring our world-class care to the Detroit market. Construction is underway for the new tower in downtown Detroit as part of Henry Ford Healthcare's new facility expansion. This tower will house 72 rehabilitation beds managed through a joint venture between Henry Ford Health System and Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. It is the mission of SRAlab to not only focus on our patients but to also elevate the entire rehabilitation field. In FY 2025, SRAlab clinicians, physicians and researchers shared numerous presentations to various professional audiences as well as published papers on scientific and clinical advancements. SRAlab continues to focus on providing a number of unreimbursed services improving the quality of life for our patients. These services include vocational rehabilitation, virtual education and consumer health resources available free of charge to all through our LIFE (Learning Innovation, Family and Empowerments) Center web site, and adaptive sports and fitness services for children and adults. SRAlab continues to support the Robert R. McCormick Center for Hope & Equity to provide needed education for our staff and wraparound services for our patients who come from vulnerable communities.Desc

DescResearch Program: SRAlab's Research Program is the world's largest physical rehabilitation research enterprise in pursuit of clinical advancement through scientific discovery. In Fiscal Year 2025, the Research Program had approximately 200 research projects underway, funded by more than $188 million in grants and donations from both private and public sources. Its experts regularly publish research in the world's foremost medical journals, including the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and its European equivalent, The Lancet, and it is home to federal research designations to develop cutting-edge solutions for patients. Shirley Ryan AbilityLab's research enterprise serves patients with the most severe, complex conditions - from traumatic brain and spinal cord injury to stroke, amputation and cancer-related impairment. The organization is renowned for breakthroughs in biomedical, neural, mechanical, and electrical engineering; bionics; molecular/cellular biology; robotics; and pharmacotherapeutics. All Shirley Ryan AbilityLab research directly addresses challenges faced by one or more of the patient populations served. Research into urgent patient problems is accelerated through space designed to facilitate collaboration across departments and disciplines. In fact, in this setting, research coexists with patient care and is fully integrated into the clinical environment, with patients engaged in the process. Because scientists' labs physically surround patients, the innovation feedback loop is shortened, and research is more focused. Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is already seeing breakthrough technology and treatments emerging from its applied-science model, proving that this "no boundaries" approach improves and accelerates discovery and innovation, and ultimately results in better, faster patient outcomes. The following are some of the many research highlights from Fiscal Year 2025: * Successfully competed for a grant proposing multi-modal treatment of function after amputation in pediatric population. * Completed a Phase 1b/2 trial for NVG-291 showing improvement in arm function and neural pathways for the chronic spinal cord injured patient. * Enrolled four pediatric subjects to repurpose an FDA-approved medication to restore muscle function in pediatric patients with no adverse events. * Completed development of a "stroke sensor toolkit" to automatically diagnose and help treat balance, strength and coordination in stroke patients. Another Fiscal Year 2025 achievement is the continuation of Shirley Ryan Ability Lab's Catalyst Grant Program. This program encourages innovation from every corner of the hospital - from nurses to administrators, environmental service technicians, physicians, and therapists - by inviting multidisciplinary teams to apply for funding to develop innovative solutions in collaboration with researchers. The central requirement is that the solution must directly address a problem faced by one or more of the hospital's patient populations. In the last year, the organization received 56 Catalyst Grant proposals submitted by a total of 223 applicants on interdisciplinary teams. It awarded 13 new Catalyst Grants to employees across the organization, who pursued innovation and discovery on a range of topics in the following projects: * Artificial Intelligence Test Lab: AI Agents to Improve Employee Access to Organizational Resources * Can We Be Doing More? Implementing Electrical Stimulation into Wound Care in the Spinal Cord Injury Population * Developing a Sensor System to Provide Feedback to Patients with Lower Extremity Weight-bearing Precautions * Parkinson's Boot Camp Roll Out Across DayRehab(TM) in Shirley Ryan AbilityLab * A Study on How Shank-to-vertical Angle Manipulation in Children with Cerebral Palsy who use Ankle Foot Orthoses Affects Vertical Ground Reaction Forces * Development of a Polycentric Elbow Prosthesis for Amputees with a Long Residual Limb * Incorporating Markerless Motion Capture into Physical Therapy for People with Multiple Sclerosis * Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Performance And Rating (PAR) System for Golfers with Disabilities * Who Should We Walk? Development and Validation of a Clinician-Oriented Recovery Calculator in Spinal Cord Injury * Investigating the Impact of Sex-Hormones on Corticospinal Excitability, Motor Learning, and Fatigue in Females with Multiple Sclerosis * Optimization of a Humanized 3D Muscle-Nerve Organ-on-a-Chip Platform to Advance Regenerative Rehabilitation Medicine * Towards Automated Gait Analysis during the 10-Meter Walk Test * Investigating the Role of the Spleen in Muscle Recovery During AgingDesc

In order to identify the significant community health needs, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab analyzed information obtained in the Assessment process. Focus group participants were asked to consider the significant rehabilitation needs of their respective communities, which also factored into the Assessment.
Schedule H, Part V, Section B, Line 11 Facility , 1Facility , 1 - Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. SHIRLEY RYAN ABILITYLAB COMPLETED ITS MOST RECENT THREE-YEAR COMMUNITY HEALTH NEEDS ASSESSMENT ("ASSESSMENT") DURING FISCAL YEAR 2025 ("FY25"). AS A RESULT OF THE INPUT RECIEVED FROM, including a focus group of community representatives, the organization identified four areas of community health needs ("priority areas"): 1. INCREASED AWARENESS OF REHABILITATION HEALTH 2. INCREASED QUALITY-OF-LIFE PROGRAMS AT OFFSITE LOCATIONS 3. INCLUSION OF YOUTH WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES IN SPORTS AND FITNESS PROGRAMS 4. EARLY IDENTIFICATION OF DISABILITY IN INFANTS AND YOUNG CHILDREN Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is addressing all significant health needs identified in the CHNA, and no needs were excluded from implementation efforts. Regarding increased awareness of rehabilitation health, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab plans to fulfill that need by providing patient and community resources; leading research activities that expand knowledge and advancements in rehabilitation; offering educational opportunities for current and future rehabilitation professionals; and expanding its reach to bring rehabilitation care and awareness to new patients in new geographies. Shirley Ryan AbilityLab provides a vast amount of resources, education and support to the broader community - which includes prospective/current patients, patients' family members, caregivers, rehabilitation professionals, healthcare providers and community partners. Media outlets from around the world regularly seek input from Shirley Ryan AbilityLab experts. In the last year alone, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab has been featured in more than 1,325 stories across local, national and international print, web and broadcast outlets, amounting to more than 6.4 billion media impressions. As of FY25, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab has grown its social media audience to nearly 112,000 across various platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, etc.). Each year, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab's website, sralab.org, receives nearly 8 million pageviews as the community searches for general information about rehabilitation health and about the hospital's programs, services, sites of care and conditions treated. Shirley Ryan AbilityLab's growing portfolio of email newsletters delivers the hospital's timely and relevant information and stories to different audiences. Shirley Ryan AbilityLab's Henry B. Betts, MD, LIFE Center is also an important resource for supporting current/former patients and the community at large. In FY25 the LIFE Center engaged in 3,808 teaching activities that include programs, classes, and special events with patients and families and conducted 1,109 peer mentor interactions. In that same year, individuals in 188 countries accessed the LIFE Center's online resources. Regarding increased quality-of-life programs at offsite locations, in addition to its 262-bed flagship hospital in Chicago, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab offers more than 30 additional sites of care - including inpatient, day rehabilitation ("DayRehab") and outpatient locations - and treats more than 50,000 patients annually from across the United States and around the world. Several quality-of-life programs are offered at outpatient and DayRehab locations throughout Chicago and the suburbs. Specifically, these include adaptive sports; assistive technology; charity care and financial assistance; ethics program; patient and family housing (Streeterville); vocational rehabilitation; and access to the LIFE Center's offerings. Through educational programs and support groups, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab strives to create meaningful connections among patients and community members experiencing similar conditions. For those with chronic or degenerative conditions like Parkinson's disease or other movement disorders, having access to these opportunities close to home enables convenient participation and fosters community connection. Shirley Ryan AbilityLab operates Chicago's largest and most comprehensive adaptive sports program, providing sports and recreational activities to more than 450 adults and kids who have a primary physical impairment. Adaptive sports offerings include archery, boccia, golf, hand cycling, rock climbing, rugby, sailing, scuba, sled hockey, swimming, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair softball. Shirley Ryan AbilityLab collaborates with many adaptive sports providers throughout Chicagoland and Illinois to host sports experience days in the community for everyone to display their ability. For example, in FY25, 686 patients participated in a variety of adaptive sports at offsite locations across Chicago and the suburbs, where they used adaptive sports equipment to enhance their skills. As interest in adaptive sports continues to grow, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab's goal is to increase visibility for these programs over the next few years. Specifically: Shirley Ryan AbilityLab's adaptive sports and marketing teams have created a guide listing all programs offered throughout the year, which is published online and distributed to all Shirley Ryan AbilityLab sites of care. The guide is also linked through the monthly Adaptive Sports & Fitness Updates newsletter that reaches approximately 600 current and prospective participants. Digital signage at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab displays information regarding adaptive sports programs. Shirley Ryan AbilityLab will continue to collaborate with local support groups and advocacy agencies, such as the United Spinal Association and Access Living, to raise awareness for these programs. Regarding inclusion of youth with physical disabilities in sports and fitness programs, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab will continue to grow and add programming tailored for children and adolescents. One of the cornerstones of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab's youth offerings is the Tengelsen Family Foundation Sports for Kids Program, which offers adaptive sports and recreational opportunities year-round, including competitive team sports, camps and weekend programs. For instance, the Sports for Kids Summer Camp - held in partnership with the Chicago Park District - is a one-week experience for young people between the ages of 6 and 21 who have a primary physical impairment and exhibit independence in their daily living skills. The camp offers a wide range of opportunities, such as archery, cycling, rock climbing, sailing and wheelchair softball (sponsored by the Chicago Cubs). In FY25, 53 young people participated in Shirley Ryan AbilityLab's sports camps. During the school year, on nonattendance days, indoor and outdoor youth programs are offered through Sports for Kids for children who live in the city of Chicago. Programs include activities such as sled hockey, rock climbing and special field trips; free lunch; and transportation to and from home to make participation more convenient. Sports for Kids programs are offered free of charge. Shirley Ryan AbilityLab partners with caseworkers and therapists in Chicago Public Schools to help them understand how to refer children to the hospital's youth programming, with hopes to grow the program going forward. Of note, Sports for Kids boasts a 100% high school graduation rate among its participants, with some receiving full scholarships to college - a true testament to the continued value and impact of this program. Regarding early identification of disability in infants and young children, the early detection of chronic conditions, as well as early intervention with developmentally appropriate therapies, is critical for improving outcomes in children and for equipping kids and their families with the right tools for community integration. Shirley Ryan AbilityLab will continue to make demonstrable progress in the early identification of disability in infants and young children. Shirley Ryan AbilityLab has established a Cerebral Palsy Center of Excellence, designed to meet the comprehensive needs of pediatric patients with CP as well as their families. Within the center, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab's Early Motor Development Clinic plays a critical role in facilitating the hospital's early identification and diagnosis of CP. Dedicated to supporting infants and toddlers experiencing motor delays or developmental challenges, the clinic offers collaborative, interdisciplinary rehabilitation evaluations - for developmental screening, early identification of motor delays and appropriate referrals for infants and toddlers. Additionally, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is leading a multi-million-dollar, multidisciplinary, years-long research effort that represents the largest longitudinal study of human infant motor development and movement ever performed and its findings are poised to revolutionize standard practice in pediatrics.

Schedule H, Part I, Line 7g Subsidized Health ServicesNO COSTS ATTRIBUTABLE TO A PHYSICIAN CLINIC ARE INCLUDED ON LINE 7G.
Schedule H, Part I, Line 7 Costing Methodology used to calculate financial assistanceTHE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND MEANS -TESTED GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS, LINE 7A THROUGH 7C, EXPENSE IS CALCULATED BY MULTIPLYING CHARGES IN EACH CATEGORY BY THE MEDICARE COST REPORT COST TO CHARGE RATIO FOR FY 2025. THE OTHER BENEFITS, LINE 7E THROUGH 7H, EXPENSE IS CALCULATED USING BOTH DIRECT AND INDIRECT COST FOR EACH CATEGORY.
Schedule H, Part III, Line 2 Bad debt expense - methodology used to estimate amountFOR FINANCIAL STATEMENT PURPOSES, SRALAB HAS ADOPTED ACCOUNTING STANDARDS UPDATE NO. 2014-09 (TOPIC 606). IMPLICIT PRICE CONCESSIONS INCLUDES BAD DEBTS. THEREFORE, BAD DEBTS ARE INCLUDED IN NET PATIENT REVENUE IN ACCORDANCE WITH HEALTHCARE FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION STATEMENT NO. 15 AND BAD DEBT EXPENSE IS NOT SEPARATELY REPORTED AS AN EXPENSE.
Schedule H, Part III, Line 3 Bad Debt Expense MethodologyOn Schedule H, Part III, Line 3 no amount was included for SRAlab for bad debt expense attributable to patients eligible under the SRAlab financial assistance policy. SRAlab's Presumptive Eligibility Policy sets forth the presumptive eligibility criteria by which a patient's financial need is determined and used by SRAlab to deem a patient eligible for hospital financial assistance without further scrutiny by SRAlab. Charity care may be provided to patients who are either uninsured or underinsured who do not have the financial resources to pay their SRAlab bill and who meet income and other guidelines specified by SRAlab. As soon as the need for financial assistance is identified, SRAlab provides the patient or Guarantor with a Program application. Patient Financial Services will review all patient accounts with self-pay balances and determine presumptive eligibility after review of the patient's Charity Application and prior to sending the patient a bill requesting payment. Patient Financial Services may use third-party reporting to determine presumptive eligibility of a patient if the patient has not timely returned a completed Charity Application. If a patient is presumed eligible, their balances will not be written off to bad debt.
Schedule H, Part III, Line 4 Bad debt expense - financial statement footnoteThe organization is part of the Rehabilitation Institute, Inc. and Affiliates' consolidated audit in which the footnote that discusses the bad debt expense is located on page 10.
Schedule H, Part III, Line 8 Community benefit & methodology for determining medicare costsThe hospital continually strives to provide excellent patient care in the most cost-effective fashion. Nonetheless, the Medicare program, in many cases, does not provide payment that covers the full cost of the care provided. The IRS does not classify this shortfall in Medicare payments as Community Benefit. However, we believe it is an important contribution made by the hospital to the health and well-being of the community. If the Medicare program did not exist, many Medicare patients would be eligible for financial assistance or other means-tested government programs. Further, by absorbing this shortfall and providing care below cost to these individuals, the hospital is relieving the burden of government. Accordingly, this shortfall restricts the hospital's ability to make funds available to provide for financial assistance and other Community Benefit.
Schedule H, Part III, Line 9b Collection practices for patients eligible for financial assistanceSRALAB'S COLLECTION POLICY REQUIRES THAT, BEFORE ANY EXTRAORDINARY COLLECTION ACTIVITY IS TAKEN, AT LEAST 120 DAYS HAVE PASSED SINCE THE PATIENT'S FIRST POST-DISCHARGE BILLING STATEMENT AND THAT THE PATIENT HAS BEEN GIVEN ADEQUATE NOTICE REGARDING AND OPPORTUNITY TO APPLY FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. MOREOVER, THE POLICY REQUIRES THAT THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF REVENUE CYCLE/DESIGNEE VERIFY THAT THESE AND ALL OTHER STATUTORY PRECONDITIONS TO COLLECTION ACTIVITY HAVE BEEN MET BEFORE ANY COLLECTION ACTIVITY IS INITIATED. THE POLICY FURTHER REQUIRES THAT IF SRALAB RECEIVES A FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE APPLICATION WHILE COLLECTION ACTIVITY IS ONGOING, IT WILL SUSPEND SUCH ACTIVITY (AND REQUIRE ANY RETAINED COLLECTION AGENCIES ACTING ON ITS BEHALF TO SUSPEND SUCH ACTIVITY) SO THAT A DETERMINATION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE ELIGIBILITY CAN BE MADE; IF IT IS DETERMINED THAT THE PATIENT IS ELIGIBLE FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, COLLECTION ACTIVITY WILL BE CEASED AND ANY APPLICABLE REFUNDS/REVERSALS WILL BE MADE.

Schedule H, Part VI, Line 2 Needs assessmentShirley Ryan AbilityLab assesses the health care needs of its community on an ongoing basis through a combination of formal Community Health Needs Assessments ("CHNAs") and continuous feedback obtained through its programs, services and patient interactions. In addition to the formal CHNA process conducted every three years, the organization evaluates community needs through direct engagement with patients, families and community members across its clinical, educational and outreach activities. The needs of SRAlab's community are assessed on an ongoing basis as part of its routine operations and in accordance with IRS regulations relating to the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). A formal assessment is performed periodically related to the CHNA. SRAlab's Henry B. Betts LIFE Center is a virtual and multimedia education center providing patient education and consumer health information for patients, families, staff and the community. Everything in the collection relates in some way to people living with a wide range of cognitive and physical impairments, chronic conditions or diseases affecting function. The website enables individuals across the globe to have access to current, peer-reviewed patient education and consumer health resources with real-time updates, printing on demand and a dashboard to save favorite resources for easy access. Resources such as the LIFE Center help individuals and their families navigate the intricacies of health care and minimize the complexity of relevant health information. Having access to information empowers people to partner with their health care team in order to make the best choices for themselves, their families and engage in life-long learning. The LIFE Center's resources are organized according to eight topic areas: Medical Information and Care, Caregiving and Equipment, Housing and Transportation, Education and Employment, Support and Wellness, Recreation and Leisure, Finance and Law and Inspiration and Hope. LIFE Center web traffic in FY 2025 averaged 14,248 page views per month, with 170,970 page views annually, across 189 countries. In FY 2025, total outreach and service efforts apart from web activity were 7,972 person contacts served which includes programs, classes, special events, resource requests, teaching activities, peer mentoring events, and tours for patients, families, staff and the community.
Schedule H, Part VI, Line 3 Patient education of eligibility for assistanceSRAlab ensures that each registration/admission location contains signage (in English and other predominant languages of the SRAlab patient population) notifying patients that financial assistance is available to qualified individuals. This notice is also posted on SRAlab's website (www.sralab.org), along with SRAlab's Financial Assistance Program process and application. Information regarding the Financial Assistance Program and the application is available in each SRAlab registration/admission location. Furthermore, a summary of this information is provided as part of the intake process. The information regarding financial assistance also appears on every self pay statement sent to our patients. In addition, when SRAlab care managers are involved in the patient's care, the care manager informs and assists the patients in enrolling in appropriate entitlement programs.
Schedule H, Part VI, Line 4 Community informationAs a specialty hospital, SRAlab defines the patients it serves broadly as the disabled community throughout the state of Illinois, the United States and around the world. Due to SRAlab's unique services and its reputation as the leader in rehabilitation medicine, many patients will travel long distances for care. Approximately 80% of SRAlab inpatients come from Chicago and its 8 surrounding counties. This represents a primary reach of approximately 60 miles. Approximately 20% of the population for whom poverty status is determined in Chicago live below the poverty line. (Source: https://datausa.io/profile/geo/chicago-il). Percentage of hospital's patients who are uninsured or Medicaid is 20% within Cook County; where SRAlab is located, there are 24 Medically under-served areas for Primary Care. (Source: https:// data.hrsa.gov/tools/shortage-area/mua-find). Within the city of Chicago, there are approximately 25 hospitals serving approximately 3 million people. In addition, to Chicago area patients, SRAlab also cared for patients from 40 states and handled referrals from 50 countries. SRAlab continues to increase its outreach and has impacted the lives of individuals in North, Central and South America; Europe; Africa; Asia (predominately the Middle East); and Australia. The largest users of rehabilitation medicine are those over the age of 65. However, SRAlab continues to serve patients of all ages, including pediatrics. In addition, SRAlab conducts strategic planning around patients of varying ages.
Schedule H, Part VI, Line 5 Promotion of community healthSRAlab's governing body is chiefly comprised of persons who reside in the organization's primary service area who are neither employees nor independent contractors of the organization, nor family members thereof. SRAlab, extends medical staff privileges to qualified physicians. SRAlab provides a number of services that generally do not generate revenue, solely for the purposes of improving the health and quality of life for our community. These services include: research to improve patient outcomes; educational resources on living with a disability available to anyone through the Internet; vocational training and placement services; support groups to assist in psychological adjustment; fitness and sports training program to promote physical activity and case management for high risk patients discharged to the community. Any surplus funds are applied to patient care, education and research as highlighted in greater detail within part III of the Form 990. Surplus funds are allocated during the annual budget process, which includes Board approval.
Schedule H, Part VI, Line 6 Affiliated health care systemSRAlab holds a 49% ownership interest in Alexian Rehabilitation Services,LLC (a two-member limited liability company) that provides the full continuum of rehabilitation services provided at various Ascension Health System facilities.

Services include initial assessment, vocational counseling and guidance, diagnostic evaluation, work trial assessments, job analysis, return-to-work evaluations, job placement, resume writing, job interview workshops and internship coordination. The SRAlab covers the cost of initial assessments, which are not covered by most third-party payers. Staff members speak to universities, schools, organizations for people with disabilities, senior centers and the general public. We also provide continuing education lectures in assistive technology through assistive tech conferences and the SRALAB Academy. The center provides 1 to 2 home visits if the client can no longer come to SRALab following their evaluation. We have also integrated the use of telehealth appointments.
