2024 Feb 20, Engineers Week banquet, recognized new Hall of Fame inductee-Dr Ronjon Nag, awarded scholarships, Keeper of the Flame award to an educator. Held at the Delta Hotel by Marriott, Silicon Valley with a catered dinner, and reception, Hall of Fame hall, networking room. About 287 people attended. The Keynote Speaker, Val Miftakhov, PhD, is a luminary in the Silicon Valley world of alternative energy sources and aviation. We had record attendance for past decade. This long-standing event is an opportunity for Silicon Valley engineering professional organizations to recognize its leaders and outstanding students and educators, along with celebrating national Engineers Week.$0$25,328
Recipients of 2024 SVEC Scholarships (education grants) were awarded -- 3 college scholarships @$1,000, 3 high school scholarships @$500, and one Keeper of the Flame award $1,000. All recognized and awarded at the 2024 Engineers Week Banquet. Names available upon request.$6,000$0
After the removal of the then President in a March 15, 2023 Board of Directors and SVEC Council Special Meeting, the removed officer took adversarial steps to restrict access to our organization accounts. Subsequent to this date, the remaining Board of Directors has had to obtain a new website, regain the bank account, and other accounts. As of this date, that person continues to assert he is the President and is keeping up the old website and pursuing alternative Hall of Fame inductees (www.svec.org). We moved the organization to a new domain and website in FY23 with new email accounts, holding elections in July 2023 for the Board of Directors, and again in July 2024. In March 2023, we asked the Santa Clara County District Attorney to hold this person criminally liable and that investigation is ongoing. We have had to pursue civil litigation and have asked for a Declaration from the Santa Clara County Superior Court. That litigation has progressed to the last step and we are now waiting for a final decision by the Judge. Legal fees, while discounted, are still substantial. In addition, we filed copyright and trademark applications for the logo and name for the organization as further legal claim. We need to eliminate this shadow organization run by the prior officer to be able to build back the Silicon Valley Engineering Council reputation and credibility in the community.$0$10,112
Open House was held November 13, 2023, held at SEMI in Milpitas. We had about 102 attendees for networking, sharing appetizers, and listening to a keynote speaker, Dr Bernard Kress, Google, speak about Adapting legacy IC fab technologies, equipments and processes to new challenges for emerging markets such as AR/VR$0$655
Hall of Fame expenses are kept separate, these include awards and printing of certificates$0$677
Certain operating Expenses that support banquet and education programs, specifically website and insurance.$0$3,164
