THE OBJECTIVE IS TO PROVIDE VARIOUS SUPPORT AND TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR DISADVANTAGED YOUTH.SUCCESS STORIES:1) Matthew Binder began his journey with GYA in 2010 as a youth worker at just 20 years old, at a time when a stable income was more important than ever, especially with his wife expecting their first child. Initially hired through GYA at the City of Glendale's Public Works Department, Matthew's dedication and hard work paid off when, two years later, the city officially brought him on in a permanent, entry-level, salaried position. Over time, Matthew steadily advanced through the ranks, ultimately earning the role of Street Maintenance Supervisor. Today, he is responsible for overseeing concrete and asphalt operations, street maintenance, and repairs. In his new position, Matthew now mentors the next generation of youth, completing the full circle of his journey. He is one of many young people whose lives have been transformed through the impactful GYA programs.2) Jontae Galvez was referred to the Glendale Youth Alliance by a partner agency, Youth Emerging Stronger. He had recently lost his father and found himself unemployed and without a stable place to call home. The two agencies worked closely together to assist Jontae. Through the GYA grant programs, he was placed to work for Caruso at the Americana at Brand and at the completion of the program was hired on as a permanent member of their team. The Caruso team treated him like family which he was extremely grateful for. GYA gave him the confidence and support he needed at the most vulnerable moment of his life.
