Schedule H, Part I, Line 6a PUBLIC AVAILABILITY OF COMMUNITY BENEFIT REPORTPiedmont regularly reports its community benefit activities to the community in several ways. Each year, Piedmont prepares a systemwide community benefit report that is available to the public through publication on its website. Piedmont also makes its IRS Form 990 Schedule H available on its website and provides copies to anyone upon request. Piedmont also includes information on community benefit programming to local, state, and federal lawmakers through its government affairs office and online at piedmont.org.
Schedule H, Part I, Line 7f PERCENT OF TOTAL EXPENSETHE DENOMINATOR USED FOR THE CALCULATION OF COLUMN (F), PERCENT OF TOTAL EXPENSE, WAS THE AMOUNT OF TOTAL FUNCTIONAL EXPENSES ON FORM 990, PART IX, LINE 25, COLUMN (A) OF $247,060,588, LESS BAD DEBT EXPENSE OF $23,688,214 FROM FORM 990, PART IX, LINE 24(B).
Schedule H, Part I, Line 7 FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND CERTAIN OTHER COMMUNITY BENEFITS AT COSTA RATIO OF PATIENT CARE COST TO CHARGES, CONSISTENT WITH WORKSHEET 2, WAS USED TO REPORT THE AMOUNTS IN PART I, LINES 7A-7D. FOR AMOUNTS ON LINES 7E-7K, ACTUAL EXPENSES FOR EACH COMMUNITY BENEFIT ACTIVITY ARE TRACED AND REPORTED USING THE ORGANIZATION'S COST ACCOUNTING SYSTEM.
Schedule H, Part III LINES 2-4 - BAD DEBT EXPENSE CALCULATION AND FOOTNOTEThe provision for bad debts is based upon leadership's assessment of historical and expected net collections considering business and economic conditions, trends in health care coverage, and other collection indicators. Hospital and system leadership periodically assesses the adequacy of the allowance for doubtful accounts based on historical write-off experience by payor category. The review results are then used to modify the provision for bad debts to establish an appropriate allowance for uncollectible receivables. THE AMOUNT REPORTED ON PART III, LINE 3, WAS DETERMINED BY TAKING THE AVERAGE ACCEPTANCE RATE FOR ALL CHARITY CARE APPLICATIONS RECEIVED DURING THE YEAR MULTIPLIED BY THE NUMBER OF DENIALS THAT WERE ATTRIBUTABLE TO INSUFFICIENT INFORMATION. THAT TOTAL WAS THEN ADJUSTED DOWNWARD FOR THE ORGANIZATION'S USE OF PRESUMPTIVE ELIGIBILITY WHEN DETERMINING ITS COMMUNITY BENEFITS. BAD DEBT EXPENSE FOOTNOTE FROM CONSOLIDATED, AUDITED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS: The provision for bad debts is based upon leadership's assessment of historical and expected net collections considering business and economic conditions, trends in health care coverage, and other collection indicators. Hospital and system leadership periodically assesses the adequacy of the allowance for doubtful accounts based on historical write-off experience by payor category. The review results are then used to modify the provision for bad debts to establish an appropriate allowance for uncollectible receivables. PRH PROVIDES CARE TO PATIENTS WHO MEET CERTAIN CRITERIA UNDER ITS CHARITY CARE POLICY WITHOUT CHARGE OR AT AMOUNTS LESS THAN ITS ESTABLISHED RATES. AMOUNTS DETERMINED TO QUALIFY AS CHARITY CARE ARE NOT REPORTED AS REVENUE.
Schedule H, Part III, Line 8 MEDICARE SHORTFALLS AS COMMUNITY BENEFITThe amount reported in Part III, Line 6, was calculated following Schedule H instructions by utilizing allowable Medicare costs as reported in the Medicare cost report, which Piedmont bases on a cost-to-charge ratio. However, the allowable costs in the Medicare cost report do not reflect the actual cost of providing care to patients since the Medicare cost report excludes many direct patient care costs that are essential to providing quality healthcare for Medicare patients. For example, specific coverage fees to physicians, Medicare C and D costs, and other similar direct patient care expenses are expressly excluded from allowable costs in the Medicare Cost Report. IRS Revenue Ruling 69-545 provides, in part, that hospitals serving patients with governmental health insurance, such as Medicare, are an indication we operate to promote health in the community. Piedmont's policy is to treat Medicare patients regardless of how much Medicare pays for the treatment. For many services, Medicare's reimbursement is less than the cost of the care provided, resulting in shortfalls the hospital will absorb in honor of its commitment to treating elderly patients. Many of these patients live on a low, fixed income and would qualify for financial assistance or other means-tested programs, absent from their enrollment in Medicare.
Schedule H, Part III, Line 9b COLLECTION PRACTICESINITIAL SCREENINGS OF ALL INPATIENT, EMERGENCY, AND SURGERY ENCOUNTERS, AS WELL AS MOST OUTPATIENT VISITS, ARE CONDUCTED BY FINANCIAL COUNSELORS IN ORDER TO IDENTIFY ANY AVAILABLE INSURANCE OR OTHER COVERAGE FOR EACH PATIENT. COUNSELORS CONTACT PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES DIRECTLY, EITHER IN PERSON OR BY LETTER, TO ASSIST THE FAMILY IN IDENTIFYING ANY PROGRAMS FOR WHICH THE PATIENT/SERVICE MAY QUALIFY (INCLUDING MEDICAID, STATE CHILDREN'S HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAM ("SCHIP"), PRIVATE OR GOVERNMENT INSURANCE COVERAGE, AND CHARITY ASSISTANCE). IF THE FAMILY CANNOT BE TIMELY LOCATED OR IS UNCOOPERATIVE, RELATED ACCOUNTS ARE TRANSFERRED TO AN INTERNAL COLLECTION DEPARTMENT FOR FURTHER ATTEMPTS TO OBTAIN PAYMENT OR, IF THE PATIENT MAY QUALIFY FOR ASSISTANCE, TO SECURE A FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE APPLICATION. THE ORGANIZATION'S DEBT COLLECTION POLICY AND PROCEDURES PROHIBIT ANY COLLECTION EFFORTS FOR THE PORTION OF A PATIENT ACCOUNT BALANCE THAT QUALIFIES FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE UNDER THE ORGANIZATION'S CHARITY CARE POLICY.
Schedule H, Part VI, Line 2 NEEDS ASSESSMENTAs a designated 501(c)(3) nonprofit hospital, the Internal Revenue Service requires us to conduct a triennial community health needs assessment (CHNA) following regulations put forth by the IRS following the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). Through this assessment, Piedmont hopes to better understand local health challenges, identify health trends in its community, determine gaps in the current health delivery system, and craft a plan to address those gaps and the identified health needs. In FY22, Piedmont conducted its fourth triennial CHNA, and FY24 was the second year of activities outlined in its subsequent Implementation Strategy. The CHNA was led by the Piedmont Healthcare community benefits team and consulting organization Public Goods Group (PGG), with input and direction from Piedmont leadership and Piedmont Healthcare's Department of External Affairs. Process The CHNA defined its community as its home county due to the impact of its tax-exempt status. Property taxes comprise a hospital's largest tax exemption segment, impacting county revenues. Because of this, Piedmont aims to ensure it provides ample benefit to its county and community. Additionally, Piedmont considers patient origin, especially its lower-income patients who qualify for financial assistance or receive insurance coverage through Medicaid. Piedmont's secondary communities are considered the areas with the highest concentration of patients fitting that criterion, including those from nearby communities. Once Piedmont established its primary and secondary communities, it analyzed available public health data, including resources from the US Census, US Health and Human Services Community Health Status Indicators, US Department of Agriculture, Economic Research Service, National Center for Education Statistics, Kaiser Family Foundation's State Health Facts, American Heart Association, County Health Rankings and Georgia Online Analytical Statistical Information System (OASIS). All figures within the CHNA were for 2020 unless otherwise noted. Health indicators are estimates provided by County Health Rankings, and we internally sourced hospital data. PGG then interviewed key stakeholders with particular expertise or knowledge of the community. Specifically, PGG interviewed representatives of local and regional public health entities, minority populations, faith-based communities, local business owners, philanthropic communities, mental health agencies, elected officials, and individuals representing the community's most vulnerable patients. Piedmont conducted an internal survey system for both clinical and non-clinical employees. Piedmont gathered information on knowledge and understanding of community benefits, current programs, and suggestions for better serving patients and the overall community, regardless of where they receive care. Approximately 1,050 employees spanning the system responded. Additionally, Piedmont conducted a community-based survey that was widely advertised to the community. Once Piedmont gathered qualitative and quantitative data, Piedmont authored the preliminary report, which was vetted and reviewed by hospital and health system leadership. This report identified several key community health needs during the assessment process. The community benefits department recommended priorities with sign-off from hospital and board leadership. Piedmont used the following criteria to establish the priorities: - The number of people affected; - The seriousness of the issue; - Whether the health need particularly affected people living in poverty or reflected health disparities; and, - Availability of community and/or hospital resources to address the need. Piedmont views all priorities through the lens of health disparities, with particular attention paid to improving outcomes for those most vulnerable due to income and race. The chosen priorities reflected a collective agreement on what hospital leadership, staff, and the community felt was most important and within its ability to impact the issue positively. Once leadership approved the priorities, Piedmont authored the CHNA. Piedmont presented its findings and recommendations to the hospital's board of directors for their input and approval. FY22 priorities A key CHNA component is identifying the top health priorities we will address over fiscal years 2023, 2024, and 2025. These priorities will guide the hospital's community benefit work. They are, in no order: - Ensure affordable access to health, mental, and dental care - Reduce preventable instances of and deaths from cancer - Promote healthy behaviors to reduce avoidable conditions, diseases, and addiction - Reduce preventable cases of and deaths from heart disease With each priority, Piedmont will work to achieve more significant health equity by reducing the impact of poverty and other socioeconomic indicators, building health equity into its work, which the hospital demonstrates through its implementation strategies. Hospital leadership and staff then developed the subsequent implementation strategy to address the identified priorities in its FY22 community health needs assessment. The implementation strategy was designed to be executed over three years. It included specific metrics by which hospital staff and the community could evaluate its work and impact. Piedmont developed the implementation strategy by utilizing community feedback from the assessment in partnership with the system community benefits department, system leadership, and the hospital's board of directors. Piedmont included proven and successful interventions and programming, investing further in work with the best chance of creating positive, sustainable change.
Schedule H, Part VI, Line 3 PATIENT EDUCATION OF ASSISTANCE ELIGIBILITYPiedmont understands that not everyone can pay their hospital bill due to their insurance status or limited income, and because of this, each hospital offers financial assistance to qualifying patients. Notification about financial assistance includes, but is not limited to, a dedicated contact number, notices within inpatient bills, and posted notices in key hospital areas. These locations are the emergency room, admitting and registration departments, business office, and patient financial services offices on site. Piedmont also publishes and widely publicizes a plain language summary of this financial assistance care policy and its full policy on its website. Any staff member can refer a patient to the financial assistance department, including physicians, nurses, financial counselors, social workers, case managers, chaplains, and religious sponsors. The patient may request financial assistance from a family member, close friend, or associate of the patient, subject to applicable privacy laws. Additionally, Piedmont provides copies of its financial assistance policy to partner clinics and others working closely with low-income populations. Piedmont helps its partners understand the policy and how it relates to their populations and receives feedback on improving financial assistance programming.
Schedule H, Part VI, Line 4 COMMUNITY INFORMATIONWhile Piedmont Rockdale serves patients all over northeast Georgia, it considers its community Rockdale County, which is in recognition of the direct impact of the hospital's tax-exempt status on county residents. In Rockdale County, an average of approximately 93,641 people lived in the 130-square-mile area each year from 2018 to 2022. The population density for this area, estimated at 721 people per square mile, is more than the national average population density of 94 people per square mile. Rockdale County is primarily urban, as about 86 percent lived in an urban setting in 2020. The average median age of people living within the county each year from 2018 to 2022 was about 39, a little older than state and national averages. About a quarter of the population were 18 or younger, 15 percent were above 65, and the rest were between 18 and 64. About 10 percent of the population identified as being born outside of the US, and four percent did not possess US citizenship status. An average of about 9 percent of county residents were veterans each year from 2018 to 2022. Most veterans were between the ages of 35 and 54. About 12 percent of the county population lived with a disability on average each year from 2018 to 2022, and most of those were above the age of 65. The community is growing, and about 8,400 people moved into Rockdale County between 2010 and 2020, representing about 10 percent growth. With this growth comes increased diversity, as white populations decreased, and all other races and ethnicities increased. Specifically, there was about a 30 percent decrease in white populations, a 38 percent increase in Black or African American populations, a two percent increase in Asian populations, and an 18 percent increase in Hispanic or Latino populations. On average, between the years 2018 and 2022, nearly 15 percent of the county's population was uninsured. Being uninsured is generally a marker of low income, and the overwhelming majority of those who are uninsured are also within specific ranges of the federal poverty guidelines. This means these populations are also likely to face myriad other social determinants of health (SDH), like housing and food insecurity. In Rockdale County, adults ages 18 to 64 are most likely to be uninsured, reflecting a nationwide trend. From 2018 to 2022, among the 15 percent of the total uninsured county population, 20 percent represented uninsured adults within the 18 to 64 age group. Additionally, nearly 22 percent of the county's population was covered through Medicaid, the state-federal public health insurance program for low-income children and adults. Most of these recipients were low-income children, as more than 43 percent of all children were enrolled in Medicaid, compared to nearly nine percent of adults ages 18 to 64 and about 12 percent of adults 65 and older. From 2018 to 2022, the average median household income each year was $69,999, which is lower than the state and national median incomes of $71,355 and $75,149, respectively. Of employers in the community, in 2022, the largest sector by number of employees was retail trade, which employed more than 6,800 people at an average wage of $34,290. Construction was the next largest sector, employing about 5,200 people at an average salary of $62,425. Manufacturing was the third largest sector, employing more than 5,100 people at an average wage of $82,726. Each year from 2018 to 2022, of the nearly 75,000 working-age residents, an average of about 46,200 were included in the labor force, and the labor force participation rate was about 62 percent. Total unemployment in the county in November 2024 equaled nearly 2,000, or four percent of the civilian non-institutionalized population age 16 and older. Of the approximately 33,200 total occupied households in Rockdale County, nearly 11,000 - about 33 percent of the population - lived in cost-burdened households annually from 2018 to 2022, meaning their housing costs were 30 percent or more of total household income. Renters occupied about 52 percent of these homes. Approximately 14 percent of households had costs that exceeded 50 percent of the household income, which places households in significant financial strain. In 2022, the county had a food insecurity rate of about ten percent, as 9,500 community members were unsure how they would access adequate food at some point over the year. Unfortunately, many of these community members were ineligible for public assistance via SNAP, WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children), free or reduced-cost school meals, the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), or The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). In 2022, of the more than 5,200 food-insecure children in the county, 20 percent were ineligible for public assistance programs. Low food access means living more than one mile (urban) or 10 miles (rural) from the nearest supermarket, supercenter, or large grocery store. This indicator is relevant because it highlights populations and geographies facing food insecurity. According to the 2019 Food Access Research Atlas database, around 40 percent of the total population in the county has low food access, meaning nearly 34,000 county residents may struggle to access healthy foods. In 2022, 80 percent of adults aged 18 or older saw a doctor for a routine checkup the previous year. This measure is higher than the state and national averages of 76 percent, respectively. For Medicare recipients, this number increases to about 83 percent of adult beneficiaries, between state and national averages. Routine checkups are critical to maintaining good health and identifying conditions that can be treated affordably in a community-based setting. Absent that, even simple-to-treat conditions can escalate to deeper issues, eventually requiring more intensive care, later-stage diagnoses, or reduced life expectancy. Dental care is crucial to health, as untreated dental conditions can lead to decay, infection, and tooth loss. In 2022, about 57 percent of adults in the county went to the dentist in the previous 12 months. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in Rockdale County. Between 2018 and 2022, the age-adjusted death rate was about 180 deaths for every 100,000 people, which is lower than both state and national averages. We see similar trends with stroke deaths. Between 2018 and 2022, there were more than 200 deaths due to stroke, resulting in an approximate age-adjusted death rate of 48 deaths per every 100,000 people, higher than the state rate of approximately 45. The hospitalization rates for heart disease and stroke among Medicare recipients have decreased steadily over the last five years, though they are still high. The average cardiovascular disease hospitalization rate from 2019 to 2021 was 11 hospitalizations per every 1,000 Medicare beneficiaries, slightly higher than the state and national rate of about 10. The hospitalization rate for stroke is nearly nine per every 1,000 Medicare beneficiaries, which is on par with the state rate. In 2021, about 7,000 of the county's adults aged 20 and older had diabetes, equaling 9 percent of the county's population, which was on par with the national rate. Diabetes is a prevalent problem in the US, often indicating an unhealthy lifestyle, and it puts individuals at risk for further health issues. In 2021, about four percent of the county's population had a diagnosis of kidney disease, a rate higher than the state and national percentages. In 2021, 36 percent of the total population of adults 18 and older reported having high cholesterol. Too much cholesterol increases the risk of heart disease and stroke, two of the leading causes of death within the county. In 2021, 44 percent of adults 18 and older had a diagnosis of high blood pressure. High blood pressure can damage the arteries by making them less elastic, which decreases blood and oxygen flow to the heart and leads to heart disease.
Schedule H, Part VI, Line 5 PROMOTION OF COMMUNITY HEALTHPiedmont actively promotes the health of its community through clinic-hospital partnerships, community-based health screenings, educational activities, community-building activities, the operation of a 24-hour emergency department available to the community as a whole, the operation of an emergency room open to all members of the community without regard to ability to pay, a governance board composed of community members, use of surplus revenue for facilities improvement, patient care, and medical training, education, and research, the provision of inpatient hospital care for all persons in the community able to pay, including those covered by Medicare and Medicaid, and an open medical staff with privileges available to all qualifying physicians. In FY24, Piedmont Rockdale provided low-income patients $6.8 million in care. Of that amount, Piedmont provided $2 million in direct financial assistance and covered approximately $227,000 in shortfalls from providing care to patients with Medicaid coverage. Piedmont Rockdale also trained future healthcare professionals, incurring a cost of $2.07 million. Training included more than two dozen specialties within the hospital, such as physical therapy and pharmacy technician training. In FY24, Piedmont further built the Empowering You platform to connect community members and patients with resources to address social determinants of health issues. Powered by FindHelp.org, Piedmont clinicians and case managers can search and refer patients to supporting organizations, including referrals to local food banks and housing resources. In FY24, we worked to ensure that patients at the not-for-profit charitable clinic Mercy Heart had access to necessary health care. Many staff members volunteer time at the clinic. Hospital leadership and Mercy Heart leadership are in frequent communication to ensure strong working relationships, such as providing access to Epic for patient health records and lending staff to lead educational classes to clinic patients. An example of these courses in action was the hospital's diabetes educator donating time to teach healthy eating to diabetes patients at Mercy Heart. Piedmont Rockdale continued its patient and family advisory council to provide meaningful input on critical care areas. When limiting or restricting visitors, the hospital met and created ways to enhance communication with patients, family members, and the care team. On an ongoing basis throughout FY24, Piedmont Rockdale staff provided yoga, mindfulness, nutrition, meditation, and screenings to help improve early detection at a cost of over $14,000 through Piedmont Rockdale's Women's Heart Program. Piedmont Rockdale hosted a monthly two-hour class throughout FY24 to educate and prepare parents, grandparents, and guardians for the first six weeks of their newborn's life, aligning with hospital discharge instructions. This Lamaze-style class prepared expectant parents for labor and childbirth, including traditional methods and amenities like aromatherapy and hydrotherapy. Throughout FY24, Piedmont Rockdale hosted 12 blood drives with the American Red Cross and supported first responders by hosting a blood drive that included over 60 community members and competition among the police, sheriff's, and fire services. Each month during FY24, Piedmont Rockdale supported a mobile WIC Van at over $800 for low-income patients, particularly NICU families, who need to sign up for services, in partnership with Gwinnett, Newton, and Rockdale health departments. In collaboration with Stork's Nest, Piedmont Rockdale helps to increase prenatal care for women, aiming to prevent low birth weight, premature birth, and infant deaths. Each month during FY24, Piedmont Rockdale partnered with Rachel's Gift and provided a support group and meeting space for ten patients and families who have lost a baby during or just after pregnancy at a cost of $6,000. During each quarter in FY24, Piedmont Rockdale staff patrolled a mile-and-a-half stretch along Boartusk Creek and removed litter and debris from entering a vital watershed area. In September 2023, Piedmont Rockdale partnered with organizations such as Evans Tool & Die to host flu shot clinics at their location, which served 30 community members, ensuring a strong and healthy workforce and decreasing the time out of work due to illness. Throughout FY24, Piedmont Rockdale partnered with First Steps, and 18 new parents were taught the proper installation of car seats into passenger vehicles at a cost of more than $10,000. The hospital also taught the community about colorectal cancer screening, oncology, orthopedics, stroke, sleep disorders, diabetes, vein diseases, and migraines. Piedmont Rockdale offered an ongoing virtual class in FY24 designed to prepare and educate the expectant family on essential breastfeeding support and instruction at a cost of $1,870. In July 2023, Piedmont Rockdale staff held a school supply drive that provided much-needed school supplies for 1400 students. Staff also discussed ways to stay hydrated and avoid heat illnesses. In August 2023, Piedmont Rockdale ensured teachers and leaders at Salem High School were well prepared for emergencies by providing supplies for an emergency first-aid kit in every classroom. In August 2023, Piedmont Rockdale staff participated in the We3 Program presented by the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce and educated women on how to be proactive at staying healthy. The We3 program uplifts and celebrates the women of today. Beginning in 2017 as a single conference event, We3 has become a resource community dedicated to engaging, educating, and empowering all women. In September 2023, Piedmont Rockdale hosted a free health fair event that served over 150 community members and offered various free services to the community to remove any barriers to access to care, serving people with low income in the community who do not have insurance and cannot afford medical care and would otherwise end up in the emergency room. The cost of this health fair was $10,700. In November 2023, Piedmont Rockdale supported Veterans on Veterans Day by raising awareness of heart disease and checking the blood pressure of those who served our country through a Veteran's Day Luncheon that involved 200 community members. In November 2023, Piedmont Rockdale staff held a 5K race to raise money for the Kimberly Chance Atkins fund at a cost of $1420. This fund helps to pay for mammograms and other diagnostic procedures. In January 2024, Piedmont Rockdale sponsored the Frosty 5K at the silver level with a $1,000 donation supporting Phoenix Pass, a nonprofit that offers homeless women with children the resources to recover and rebuild a productive and stable life through supportive services in a rent-free, utilities-free residential setting. Established in 2008, Phoenix Pass currently serves 15 mothers and 32 children. In January 2024, in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Day, Piedmont Rockdale team members supported the Rockdale County NAACP's I Have a Dream breakfast to remember and honor the legacy of Dr. King, with 200 community members participating in this event. In January 2024, Piedmont Rockdale collected essential items for families through Rockdale Women's Shelter, distributing them to the women and families they serve. In February 2024, the National Council of Negro Women partnered with Piedmont Rockdale to promote the healthy aging of women in the community. Panelists spoke on neurological conditions, physical fitness, aging-in-place, and seniors' sexual health, and 85 community members participated in this event. In March 2024, staff from the emergency and women's services departments at Piedmont Rockdale educated and informed leaders from the community on how to identify and treat patients in a mental health crisis. Piedmont Rockdale also sponsored the snack break at a training event for 150 high schoolers to learn about mental health and how to care for their and peers' well-being. In April 2024, in partnership with OrthoAtlanta, Piedmont Rockdale staff and physicians provided 120 no-cost sports physicals to athletes in the community at Heritage High School. In April 2024, Piedmont Rockdale staff trained high school athletic coaches, trainers, and staff on CPR, how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and basic first aid, emphasizing safety in sports environments. Also, in April 2024, Piedmont Rockdale partnered with the UNIDOS Latino Association of Rockdale County to bring care to underserved members of the Hispanic population of the community by providing laboratory work, diabetic wound evaluations, stroke prevention, and treatment information. All this material was presented in Spanish and offered free to the community.
Schedule H, Part VI, Line 5 PROMOTION OF COMMUNITY HEALTH, CONTINUEDThroughout the year, Piedmont reached out to the community through various events. For example, Piedmont Rockdale partnered with State Rep. Doreen Carter to host the Go Red Luncheon, where Drunell Linton, M.D., spoke about heart health, blood pressure, and stroke awareness. Piedmont Rockdale hosted a first-aid booth at the City of Conyers Juneteenth celebration. Piedmont Rockdale hosted its annual Baby Fair. This event allowed new and expecting parents to learn about resources and services available for their new baby. Attendees toured the Labor and Delivery unit and signed up for classes. The annual event Reading Across America promotes reading for children and young adults. The National Education Association promotes the event, which encourages reading and educates people about the benefits of reading regularly to children and young adults. Piedmont Rockdale staff volunteered to read books about healthcare careers to students at every local elementary school. Piedmont Rockdale partnered with DiversiTech, a local manufacturer, to provide a wellness exam to employees. In addition to routine labs and blood pressure checks, prostate screenings and mental health evaluations were offered to attendees. Piedmont Rockdale hosted an immersive day camp for high school students to learn more about nursing careers at Piedmont Rockdale. Students toured the hospital and participated in a hands-on demonstration of healthcare equipment and lifesaving techniques.
Schedule H, Part VI, Line 6 AFFILIATED HEALTH CARE SYSTEMPiedmont Rockdale is part of Piedmont Healthcare, a regional not-for-profit organization and the parent company of 19 hospitals, the Piedmont Physicians Group, the Piedmont Heart Institute, the Piedmont Clinic, and the Piedmont Healthcare Foundation.
