ExplanationOn January 1, 2019, Navicent Health became part of Atrium Health (The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Hospital Authority). Following are excerpts from Footnote 1 of Atrium Health's audited statements for the year ended December 31, 2019. This Footnote discusses Navicent's relationship to Atrium Health and its inclusion in the Atrium Health Audited Financial Statements. An ASC 740 disclosure was not considered to be material for financial statement disclosure purposes; however, the requirements of ASC 740 were considered. Atrium Health is one of the nation's leading and most innovative healthcare organizations, providing a full spectrum of healthcare and wellness programs throughout the Southeast region. Its diverse network of care locations includes academic medical centers, hospitals, freestanding emergency departments, physician practices, surgical and rehabilitation centers, home health agencies, nursing homes and behavioral health centers, as well as hospice and palliative care services. Atrium Health works to enhance the overall health and wellbeing of its communities through high quality patient care, education and research programs, and numerous collaborative partnerships. Atrium Health was organized in 1943 under the North Carolina Hospital Authorities Act. It is a public body and a body corporate and politic and, therefore, has been determined by the Internal Revenue Service to be exempt form federal and state income taxes. Atrium Health is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. For financial reporting purposes, Atrium Health is divided into the "Primary Enterprise", "Discrete Component Units," and "Fiduciary Activities." The Primary Enterprise consists of The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Hospital Authority (CMHA, d/b/a Atrium Health) and all affiliates whose assets and income Atrium Health controls without limitation. In February 2018, Atrium Health signed a Letter of Intent with Navicent Health (Navicent), a nonprofit corporation headquartered in Macon, Georgia, to enter a strategic combination to enhance access, affordability, and equity of care for individuals and families in central and southern Georgia. In December 2018, Atrium Health and Navicent signed an Agreement and Member Substitution (Agreement), effective January 1, 2019, pursuant to which AHNH Georgia, Inc., a newly formed controlled affiliate of which Atrium Health is the sole member, became the sole corporate member of Navicent. Through this Agreement, Navicent became a regional hub in, and an integral part of Atrium Health. On the effective date of the Agreement, Navicent became a component unit of Atrium Health and, because a controlled subsidiary of Atrium Health is the sole member of Navicent, its financial information is blended with the Primary Enterprise as of and for the year ended December 31, 2019.ExplanationTxt

General Approximate Hours expended in social accountability projects and events: 575 The impact of non-quantifiable contributions Carlyle Place has on the greater Middle Georgia Area, through both residents and staff, can be subdivided into the following nine areas: Advocacy, Community Involvement, Conduit for Using Donations, Economic Impact, Good Neighbors, Recognition, Responding to Needs, and Social Impact. Advocacy: Carlyle Place offers volunteer hours to the local chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. Community Involvement: Employees are active members of other community boards and committees, offering service to the surrounding community. Examples include: Leading Age, Meals on Wheels, Rainbow House, and Rotary Club of North Macon. Conduit for Using Donations: Residents, staff members and members of the community are given the opportunity to participate in quarterly projects. Each of the projects has a list of items for donation to the following agencies: Daybreak, Family Advancement Ministries, Macon Rescue Mission, Loaves & Fishes, and Sonny Carter Elementary. Through numerous recruitment opportunities and social media, the community is invited to participate in our projects. In addition, fundraisers are held through bake sales and special meals to raise money for the American Heart Association and The Alzheimer's Association. Several years ago, a Resident Assistance Fund was established to receive memorial and honorarium donations on behalf of our residents. The fund has grown to the point that we were able to provide ongoing financial assistance to two of our residents, beginning in March 2019, who have outlived their financial resources. Economic Impact: Carlyle Place, being a Life Plan Community, attracts seniors from all over the country to relocate to the middle Georgia area. The residents purchase locally and utilize the healthcare services available to central Georgia. The community encourages local purchasing and investing in entertainment by offering transportation to community events, retail facilities, and healthcare agencies. Good Neighbors: The facilities at Carlyle Place are used by some community groups to facilitate monthly or quarterly meetings. Kiwanis Club & Meals on Wheels are two agencies which have utilized the space available. Carlyle Place management encourages residents to recycle various items by offering pickup services at each resident's home on a weekly basis. The residents have organized a recycling service which picks up recycled items door to door and places them in the single stream recycling container acquired through Advanced Disposal. Residents also participate in an annual call for larger recyclables (electronics, TVs, Cell Phones, etc.) which are collected and distributed to businesses and organizations to be disposed of properly. Donations can be made by residents to the local Goodwill Industries through our facility services department, encouraging the recycling of household goods rather than the items ending up in a landfill. During the refurbishment process, items in working condition are salvaged from some of the residences and donated to local housing service providers such as Macon Rescue Mission. Intergenerational engagement opportunities were offered to students of the following local schools and agencies: First Presbyterian Day School, North Macon Presbyterian Day School, Northway Church Pre-school, Sonny Carter Elementary, and Stratford Academy. Recognition: Carlyle Place is Macon Telegraph's 2018 Best of the Best - Retirement Facility. Responding to Needs: The Middle Georgia area has a significant number of individuals who are homeless. In response to the needs of the homeless population, residents donated supplies to be sent to Daybreak. Social Impact: The residents of Carlyle Place are avid servers within their community. Many of them have spent a lifetime investing time and talents into the communities in which they lived and worked. Now retired, many seek to give to the local community. For some this is no easy task as physical challenges exist in going out into the community. As a result, the staff members and leadership team have worked together to create opportunities for the residents to give back to the community while never leaving the facility. Some of the opportunities include: Sorting jewelry for Goodwill Industries and making and delivering blankets for older children at The Children's Hospital, Navicent Health. The nurse in the wellness clinic has partnered with local colleges and universities to offer opportunities for practicing interviewing skills for students who will be entering the field of medicine. Mercer University sends medical students to learn how to assess and complete a poly-pharmacy review. The nursing students from Middle Georgia State University come to observe and interview the residents who visit the wellness clinic. The Resident Life and Facility Services departments at Carlyle Place combine forces to offer the residents an opportunity to make sandwiches 2 - 3 times each month. The sandwiches are delivered to Loaves and Fishes for programming the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th Tuesday of the month. Service Learning opportunities have been created at Carlyle Place for students in high school and college in the surrounding areas. Students volunteer within our healthcare neighborhoods assisting our activity staff members in providing programming for the residents in our personal care homes and skilled nursing facility. Some of the schools represented through this volunteer program include: ACE academy, Central High School, FPD, Howard High School, Jones County High School, Mercer University, Stratford Academy, and Tattnall Square Academy. Volunteer Activities: Carlyle Place staff members have volunteered time, talents, and made donations (both monetary and in-kind) with various agencies in the middle Georgia Community. The following is a list of agencies that have benefitted from those employed by Carlyle Place: Alzheimer's Association, American Heart Association, Daybreak, Family Advancement Ministries, Goodwill Industries, Loaves & Fishes, Macon Symphony Orchestra, Macon Volunteer Clinic, Meals on Wheels, Middle Georgia State University, Mount De Sales, Second Baptist Church, and World Vision. The combined volunteer hours by residents and staff members totaled over 1,000 hours. The monetary and in-kind donations to the agencies totaled over $12,747.60. We had 100 volunteers during FY2019.
