DescFiscal Sponsorship Program:The Redford Center is committed to helping filmmakers get high impact environmental and social justice films funded, made and seen. Our Fiscal Sponsorship Program, launched on September 1, 2015, enables The Redford Center to support more impact film projects in a less hands-on capacity. As a fiscal sponsor, The Redford Centers role is to make sure our filmmakers are spending grant funds appropriately, and to support them in the filming process so that they can create work that helps change the world. As of the end of 2018 the fiscal sponsorship program has grown to include 30 fiscally sponsored projects.Desc

Thanks to the support of the New York Community Trust, The Redford Center has held two, two-year grant cycles to-date, the inaugural cycle launching in 2016, and the most recent cycle in 2018, supporting 14 film projects to-date. Our 2018 grantee feature length environmental documentary film projects are on a range of topics including: cell-based meat production, climate change, youth environmental movement, grassroots organizing for environmental change, artist response to climate disaster, adaptation to climate change and the Bering Gate.Desc

DescClean Energy Initiative:In November 2013, The Redford Center convened thought leaders across many disciplines to help refine the style and substance of our Clean Energy Innovation Project. Entering this gathering with a desire to help re-frame the moribund public dialogue on climate change solutions, we found a diverse array of stakeholders from Big Business and politicians to clean-tech start-ups and cutting edge marketing firms yearning for a more engaging message to better reflect the current state of affairs in clean energy: a reality that contains better pathways to hope and engagement. Better technologies are finally achieving better economics, resulting in a new energy gold rush that has the potential of climate change. Using our established documentary storytelling expertise and leveraging the Redford brand and networks, the Clean Energy Innovation Project is developing an expansive communications platform for this clean power movement. At the center of the effort is our film, HAPPENING: A Clean Energy Revolution which finished film production in October 2017 and immediately started a film festival tour. The film was then released in December of 2017 on HBO and has since appeared at 27 film festivals. As of the end of 2018, Happening has reached more than 2 million views in the US alone and screened in 45 countries. There are also many organizations working in the clean power arena, and the purpose of Happenings impact and outreach campaign now is to bring our individual efforts together and broaden our collective success advancing the clean energy movement. A special 50-minute classroom EDU version of the film was also created in 2018 with associated curriculums for Grades 6-12 and Universities. The Redford Center has fielded inquiries, and provided screening licenses, support, and/or co-production to over 1,000 community and classroom screenings to dateand it continues to receive calls and inquiries weekly.Desc

Form 990, Part III, Line 4d: Other Program Services DescriptionOTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Colorado River Initiative (Raise the River):Raise the River is a unique partnership of six United States and Mexico non-governmental organizations committed to restoring the Colorado River Delta. Members include Sonoran Institute, Pronatura Noroeste, National Audubon Society, The Nature Conservancy, Restauremos el Colorado, A.C., and The Redford Center. The coalition has worked with policymakers, water agencies, and governmental representatives from the U.S. and Mexico since 2012 to cooperatively create historic change for the Colorado River Delta, supported by the historic binational agreements Minute 319 (November 2012-December 2017) and Minute 323 (January 2018 - December 2026). The Redford Centers education and advocacy efforts on behalf of Raise the River have included the award-winning Redford Center-produced documentary WATERSHED, which has been screened more than 500 times in a dozen countries, has been selected to run at more than 53 film festivals and won numerous awards. It has been picked up by educational and online distributors, including Netflix, iTunes, and Amazon.com.Thanks to WATERSHED and The Redford Centers media efforts, Raise the River achieved its first $10 million fundraising milestone at the end of 2015. Funds raised to date have resulted (as of Dec 31, 2018) in more than 245,000 trees planted, 952 acres of habitat restored, and 18.7 billion gallons of water (57,362 acre-feet) acquired to help revive the natural ecosystem. Raise the River has engaged over 3,000 participants per-year average of local residents, school children, and volunteers from around the world in on-site restoration work and environmental education programs, since their 2015 inception.Raise the Rivers primary goal is to bring water and life back to the Colorado River Delta, and in doing so, create a model for future trans-national river restoration efforts throughout the world along with rebuilding the habitats that support local communities and wildlife. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Redford Center Stories:Hosted by The Redford Center, Redford Center Stories is an environmental storytelling Contest designed for teachers who are ready to empower their middle school students to re-imagine materials use, production and waste in the 2019-2020 school year. Redford Center Stories celebrates young minds by offering a showcase for students to share their ideas through a Visual Storytelling Contest, with winners announced on Earth Day 2020. This project-based approach to learning sparks curiosity, invites creativity, builds confidence and fosters teamwork as students seek solutions to real-world environmental problems.
