UNDERCURRENT PROVIDES SUBSCRIBERS WITH READER REPORTS, EQUIPMENT REVIEWS, DIVING BOOKS AND GUIDES AND OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION REGARDING HEALTH, TRAVEL AND SAFETY ISSUES SPECIFIC TO SCUBA DIVING WORLDWIDE.THE WEB SITE "UNDERCURRENT.ORG" IS DIVIDED INTO TWO AREAS. PUBLIC, AND MEMBERS. To support wild animal, land, ocean, and other environmental protection programs by identifying those organizations with effective projects and financial needs, seeking sources for support, and helping them fund specific projects.Grants to the Tikki Hywood Foundation in Harare, Zimbabwe, support their extended effort to protect wild pangolins, the most poached mammal in the world, by rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing animals retrieved from illegal tradeGrants to the Namibia Nature Foundation fund their Cross-Border and National Counter Wildlife Crime Support Program, which coordinates and supports the protection of wild animals in several African nations, including Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.Grants to the South African Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary aids their program to protect 50 wild rhinos. They are developing the existing rehabilitation center into a secure stronghold to accommodate 100 black and white rhinos as a viable and secure breeding population. Grants to the Kenya Wildlife Service enhance the effectiveness of KWS by helping them hire an experienced conservation manager, as well as analyze KWS performanc, and increase its effectiveness in protecting wild animals. Grants to the Stichting Wildlife Justice Commission, based in the Hague, enhance its capacity to conduct investigations in Asia and Africa into the illegal trafficking of African wildlife and body parts and enforce applicable laws. Grants to the Natural Resource Conservation Network (Uganda) helps them implement their partnership with the Uganda Wildlife Authority in wildlife crime law enforcement. NRCN prosecutors are licensed to practice as advocates in both the Supreme Court of Uganda and subordinate judiciaries to privately prosecute wildlife criminal cases. Grants to The Natural Resource Conservation Network (NRCN) combat wildlife trafficking in Uganda by increasing the investigative capacity of wildlife law enforcement, and in the long run, deter potential poachers and traffickers.
