PART V, LINE 4:THE ENDOWMENT FUNDS ARE USED TO BOLSTER THE SERVICES AND PROGRAMMING PROVIDED TO WMFE'S AUDIENCE.
PART X, LINE 2:The Company is exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and from state income taxes under similar provisions of the Florida Statutes. The Company identifies and evaluates uncertain tax positions, if any, and recognizes the impact of uncertain tax positions for which there is a less than more-likely-than-not probability of the position being upheld when reviewed by the relevant taxing authority. Such positions are deemed to be unrecognized tax benefits and a corresponding liability is established on the statement of financial position. The Company has not recognized a liability for uncertain tax positions. If there were an unrecognized tax benefit, the Company would recognize interest accrued related to unrecognized tax benefits in interest expense and penalties in operating expenses. The Companys open tax years subject to examination by the Internal Revenue Service generally remain open for three years from the date of filing.

FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4A, PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS:long-form reporting, and our twice-a-week public affairs show. This includes our Voter Voices series talking with voters in each of the counties about the issues driving their vote in Floridas March primary. We then checked in with voters in the seven counties along Floridas I-4 Corridor, which includes four counties in our listening area, to find out who will get their vote for president and why. The Pulse nightclub shooting lead to expanded coverage that included in-depth segments throughout the day in the week following the shooting, expanding our talk show to four shows that week (carried statewide), increased number of daily newscasts and extensive reporting on Twitter and Facebook. For Hurricane Matthew, we went wall-to-wall for several hours before and during the storm. During that coverage, we checked in with emergency management officials and residents riding out the storm in the coastal counties of Volusia and Brevard, and reporters visited those communities after the storm to report on the damage. On election night, we had reporters embedded in three of our six primary counties (Orange, Seminole and Brevard) reporting live from those counties with results and on-scene reports. Our public affairs show Intersection takes calls from listeners for the first segment of the Friday broadcast. These calls come from both sides of the issues and often from more than one of the six counties in our primary coverage area. The host has traveled to Brevard County to find out more about a massive fish kill in the Indian River Lagoon, spoke with Volusia Countys newly elected sheriff, and checked in with Latino voters, Cubans in a post-Castro world, leaders of a nonprofit for the blind, and a former school teacher tutoring at-risk kids. Our newsroom also continues to focus on the struggling, historically black community of Eatonville as it grapples with gentrification. We filed several stories both for daily newscasts and in-depth features looking at the role of Latino voters in the election. And we continue to report on LGBT issues in the wake of the Pulse shooting. Reporters have boosted their use of Twitter as a primary reporting tool while covering stories out in the field. The Intersection team uses Facebook Live to promote the show and elicit questions from listeners. The newsroom has increased its production of video segments for the stations Facebook page, which elements are often heavily shared. In-person engagement included a partnership with Valencia Colleges Peace & Justice Institute featuring the stations Friends Talking Faith hosts. This Speaker Series event brought students, community leaders, faith community leaders and others together to explore issues surrounding acceptance, diversity and tolerance. WMFE boosted its partnership with other public radio stations in the state with three series of in-depth feature reporting, simulcasting of our public affairs show in the days following the Pulse nightclub shooting, and the collaborative, statewide, call-in program that ran for ten weeks, most of it leading up to the November election. The feature series included: a series in May on hurricanes in Florida, a look before the August primary at the five candidates running for U.S. Senate, and more than a half-dozen stories looking at the issues facing voters ahead of the November election. We also utilized our partnership with News 13 to simulcast their signal during parts of our Pulse and Hurricane Matthew coverage. Through Health News Florida, WMFE collaborated with stations on Zika coverage. WMFE has also used its participation at University of Central Florida internship fairs to recruit for its internship program. The newsroom internship program has been recently rebooted, and so far we have brought four interns into our newsroom through our participation with the UCF event. All four of those interns are from minority communities. Reporters from the newsroom also made many appearances in the community to connect with a diverse group of local institutions and nonprofits. They engaged the community through such events as: A panel by CAIR to discuss issues facing the Muslim community, a presentation at Pecha Kucha about Mars exploration, a moderated event for the Jewish Federation, a talk with seniors at the Palm Beach Library about space, panels for the National Association of Black Journalists, a talk with UCF journalism students about the profession, and a moderated political forum for The Childrens Movement. 90.7 WMFEs partnership with the other public radio stations in the state was showcased and provided essential emergency alert and preparedness information across the state during Hurricane Matthew. The Florida Public Radio Emergency Network (FPREN) worked seamlessly with the local Emergency Operations Centers, FEMA and other community partners. The FPREN branded Florida Storms mobile application and social media feeds provided up to the minute information to residents throughout the state. This infrastructure has far reaching applications beyond weather related emergencies. The infrastructure was used during the Orlando Pulse tragedy to link stations across the state and can be used in the event of nearly any type of breaking news events, emergencies and natural disasters. 90.7 WMFE continues to support the work of dozens of community nonprofits in our region through our on-air and online community calendar. The free service continues to grow as a resource for organizations looking to get the word out to the community. The stations community engagement efforts in FY 2016 designed to both promote community events and to participate in and partner with eight community organizations through events and festivals has had a strong impact on visibility of both the station and the organizations in the community. Events such as the Asian Cultural Festival in Orlando, the Zora Neal Hurston Festival in Eatonville, the Caribbean American Heritage Festival, and the Hispanic Business Expo allowed the station to engage with and support diverse communities in a meaningful way. Sometimes the impact was simply making communities aware that we existed and had valuable programming to offer. Our quarterly Speaker Series extended our educational outreach by exposing hundreds of attendees to topics such as: trends in journalism, retirement planning, and Florida history. Through these community conversations students were connected to career building resources and professional contacts. Those seeking financial and estate planning information were provided with free resources and contacts for professional services. Florida residents, both longstanding and recent transplants, were linked to Floridas rich past, living history and cultural assets. WMFEs health reporter was the first to tally up the medical costs of the Pulse nightclub shooting for victims as well as the community. After his story aired, he received an email that said this story prompted the hospital to move up the conversation (and ultimate decision) to forgive the bills of Pulse victims. A story about first responders going public with their PTSD was noticed by the New York Times, which did its own story and sparked a wave of media coverage. In response, legislation is moving through the Florida capitol to help first responders with PTSD. Our public affairs program Intersection gets a steady stream of callers during the Friday live segment along with listeners sending us inquiries about local musicians featured on the Friday show. Our reporters story for NPR about Floridas first black state attorney generated hundreds of shares and comments and was mentioned in the candidates acceptance speech. Another story out of the newsroom for NPR on Islamic fashion wear was recognized by local and national civil rights groups for looking into the central Florida Muslim community. Our continued focus on space and the environment are collecting praise from key players in those communities. The stations diversity and inclusion efforts remained strong in FY16 through both our programming and the participation in community events that specifically targeted minority and diverse communities. Media sponsorships and engagements ranging from the Asian American Heritage Councils Annual Student Achievers Awards, the Hispanic Business Expo, and the Association to Preserve the Eatonville Community are examples of the commitment to serving diverse audiences. In FY16 WMFE was the recipient of the Atlantic Institute Award recognizing influential persons and organizations who actively promote diversity and intercultural exchange in the workplace, the government, or other vocational spheres in their communities. Intersection, WMFEs weekly news and conversation program continues to regularly explore issues of concern to diverse communities as well as arts and cultural affairs in Central Florida. WMFEs weekly broadcast of Latino USA provides news and cultural programming from a Latino perspective. WMFE also c
