Renown South Meadows Medical CenterPart V, Section B, Line 5: Renown utilized validated and reliable data sources to ensure a comprehensive and accurate Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). This included data from an online survey of more than 1,400 Washoe County residents, who represented a diverse cross-section of the community by age, race, ethnicity, sex assigned at birth, current gender identity, and sexual orientation. In addition, Renown gathered qualitative insights through Key Informant Interviews with local subject matter experts and hosted a Community Workshop that engaged over 80 leaders and stakeholders. These participants represented a broad spectrum of specialties and organizational missions, ensuring a wide range of perspectives across healthcare, social services, education, public health, and community-based organizations. This multi-faceted approach allowed Renown to capture both quantitative and qualitative input, grounded in community voice and expert knowledge.

Renown South Meadows Medical CenterPart V, Section B, Line 11: In 2024, Renown Health completed the final year of its 2021-2023 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) Implementation Strategy with continued commitment to addressing health disparities through targeted, evidence-based efforts. The plan focused on three priority areas: Healthy Behaviors, Immunizations & Infectious Diseases, and Behavioral, Youth, and Adolescent Health. Each area included strong community partnerships that enhanced implementation and deepened local impact.Priority 1: Healthy BehaviorsRenown partnered with the Healthy Nevada Project, Tier 1 Genomics, and the Renown Health Communications Team to promote equitable access to genetic screening and health education. Communication materials increased by 17% from the previous year, while the genomic testing program enrolled over 57,000 participants by the end of 2024. These efforts emphasized outreach to high-risk, historically underserved populations and laid the groundwork for long-term improvements in health literacy and prevention.Priority 2: Immunizations & Infectious DiseasesRenown collaborated with Immunize Nevada (until the sudden dissolve of their non-profit in early 2024), and later expanded efforts through partnerships with Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada and Community Health Alliance. These partnerships enabled targeted vaccine outreach and delivery to socially vulnerable groups, including undocumented individuals, older adults, those with limited English proficiency, and uninsured families. Priority 3: Behavioral, Youth, and Adolescent HealthRenown worked closely with The Children's Cabinet, Washoe County School District, and the Washoe County Children's Mental Health Consortium through the Connect Washoe County initiative. A broad coalition of over 38 local agencies participated in the annual Youth Mental Health Summit, including NAMI Western Nevada, Quest Counseling, Crisis Support Services of Nevada, Thrive Wellness, and Hope Means Nevada. Renown also supported dozens of direct-service partners, including Amplify Life, Forever14, Safe Talk for Teens, STEP2, ReDirect Youth Outreach, and Ronald McDonald House Charities, investing over $485,000 into suicide prevention, family-based services, mental health programs, and community health education in 2024.Through these collective efforts, Renown Health met or exceeded nearly all targeted goals in the implementation plan and demonstrated meaningful progress in advancing health equity across Northern Nevada. Although the majority of the overarching goals, objectives, and efforts will focus on the top three priority areas, Renown Health remains committed to supporting positive advancements in addressing Maternal and Child Health, and other identified focus areas through partnerships, collaborations, and stakeholder alignment. There are several identified health focus areas remaining: Economy; Women's Health; Built Environment & Infrastructure; Domestic Violence; Older Adults & Aging; Access to Health Services; Maternal, Fetal, & Infant Health; Exercise, Nutrition, and Weight. Although these remaining health needs are significant, other groups in Washoe County have made this their focus, so they are not directly targeted in the 2021 Implementation Strategy & Plan. However, they will continue to be interwoven through both existing and proposed Renown Health strategic plans. In 2024, Renown Health undertook an extensive community health planning process in preparation for the 2025-2027 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) Implementation Strategy. Building on insights from the 2023 CHNA, the organization focused on identifying strategic priorities, engaging diverse stakeholders, and aligning future goals with documented community needs and existing service gaps.Renown hosted a community-wide listening session in July 2024 to review the 2023 CHNA findings and gather input on potential focus areas. This session included representation from public health agencies, nonprofit organizations, school officials, health professionals, and community members. The purpose was to validate priority issues, elevate lived experience, and foster collective ownership of the implementation planning process.Throughout 2024, the Community Health Program Manager conducted a comprehensive environmental scan of existing community programs, services, and partnerships aligned with identified priority areas. This scan helped determine where Renown could most effectively lead, support, or collaborate to maximize impact and avoid duplication. Ongoing meetings with key partners ensured the strategy development process remained responsive and data-informed.In December 2024, Renown convened a multi-sector strategy session with stakeholders to review the CHNA data and collaboratively select targeted strategies through a voting and consensus process. As a result, 45 specific strategies were identified under each new priority area, setting the foundation for the 2025-2027 Implementation Strategy. These efforts reflect Renown Health's continued commitment to inclusive planning, measurable health improvement, and transparent community benefit reporting. From January 1, 2025-December 31, 2027 the following will be of focus:Priority Area #1: Mental Health Strategy 1.1: Foster Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs)Strategy 1.2: Provide High-Quality, Trauma-Informed CareStrategy 1.3: Improve Mental Health Outcomes with a Focus on Suicide PreventionStrategy 1.4: Enhance Substance Abuse InterventionsStrategy 1.5: Increase Access to High-Quality Mental Health Services for Underserved CommunitiesPriority Area #2: Access to Healthcare and Community Services Strategy 2.1: Peer SupportStrategy 2.2: Community safety-net programmingStrategy 2.3: Data StreamliningStrategy 2.4: Rural Access Strategy 2.5: Strengthen Nonprofit Collaboration & Outreach with Focus on Kids Priority Area #3: Maternal and Child Health Strategy 3.1: Reduce Substance Use in Pregnant Women Strategy 3.2: Increase Prenatal Care Access and AdherenceStrategy 3.3: Strengthen Child Safety and Reduce TraumaStrategy 3.4: Reduce Syphilis IncidentsRenown Health remains committed to supporting positive advancements in addressing other identified health focus areas through partnerships, collaborations, and stakeholder alignment.
