| Desc | Fibershed's 2016 Program Services Accomplishments include: 1) We created an economic model known as Community Supported Cloth to conduct a feasibility study on the viability of regionalizing cloth production and designing a regenerative textile economy 2) Co-led two Carbon Farm education days with partner organizations and ranches both for the general public and policy makers 3) Produced our fifth annual Wool Symposium for 500 members of the general public 4) We provided In-person presentations on Soil-to- Soil regional fiber systems provided to over 2,000 members of the general public 5) Increased our Producer Program to include 23 new farms and 10 new artisans 6) We developed the first Climate Beneficial Wool Program offering 11 presentations on Climate Beneficial Wool with an audience totaling over 340 people. 7) We launched the first Carbon Farm Fund direct donation program, to direct funds to ranches and farms that have completed Carbon Farm Plans-and lists of practices awaiting implementation. 8) We expanded the Fibershed Book of Wool and Fine Fiber to include our 39 new producers and added more information about micron testing, production quantity, and pricing. We also increased our distribution of the Wool Book to include lending to brands and colleges as an educational resource 9) Completed the design of our Citizen Soil Sampling Protocol & completed soil sampling of 12 local ranches. This program tests soils as a foundation for determining Climate Beneficial status of raw materials grown on our local farms and ranches 10) Completed first regenerative agriculture research site developed focused on natural dye production (indigo & coreopsis), as well as a comparative analysis of extraction techniques 11) Hemp agriculture research in Colorado and Kentucky was focused on coordinating hemp growers in Eastern Kentucky with processors and end-users to support farmers develop their early stage markets for research and development 12) Launched a National Mill Inventory to illuminate fiber milling capabilities across the United States | Desc |
