Governor Deal, House Speaker Ralston, Lt. Governor Cagle and our state legislators showed great bipartisan leadership, further building Georgias business-friendly brand. Our highest priority for this session was increasing state funding to address our critical transportation infrastructure needs, including transit. The General Assembly approved HB170, which will generate over $900 million in new annual funding to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) in the first year. The new funding will grow over time, so it will not lose its purchasing power. Georgia businesses and residents will benefit greatly from this predictable and sustained revenue source, which will maintain and modernize our transportation networks. In addition to promoting legislation to strengthen our business climate, MAC and our partners worked diligently to protect Georgias reputation as an innovative and inclusive place to work, live and invest by guarding against negative polices. Eight innovative companies, organizations and individuals were selected as Atlantas most notable leaders in the sustainability and clean tech sector at the 2015 E3 Awards. MACs annual E3 Awards event honors those who are committed to positioning metro Atlanta as a place where the economy and environment connect for everyone. Learn more at atlantaE3awards.com about the 2015 winners as well as past recipients. iNav is a regional effort, supported by 15 partner organizations and 33 colleges and universities in the metro Atlanta area providing employers a free and easy way to access multiple schools at once. iNav's goal is to increase internship opportunities available for students and help employers locate qualified talent in the region.
