| Explanation | The Organization and certain affiliates are exempt from federal income taxes under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) and state income taxes under similar state provisions. Therefore, no provision has been made for income taxes on the changes in net assets. No provision has been made for income taxes, if any, for the Organization's consolidated partnership affiliates since income or loss of the partnership is required to be reported by the respective partners on their income tax returns. With regards to the Organization's for-profit subsidiaries, deferred income tax assets and liabilities are recognized for the differences between financial and income tax reporting basis of assets and liabilities based on enacted tax rates and laws. A valuation allowance is provided if it is more likely than not that some or all of the deferred tax assets will not be realized. The deferred income tax provision or benefit generally reflects the net change in deferred income tax assets and liabilities during the year. The current income tax provision reflects the tax consequences of revenues and expenses currently taxable or deductible on the Organizations various income tax returns for the year reported. The primary deferred income tax items are net operating loss carryforwards. The Organization had no unrecognized tax benefits at December 31, 2015 and 2014.
