In addition, the Annual DIA Euro Meeting, which attracted over 1,800 participants, is recognized as one of the premier forums for exchange of information in the European medical/pharmaceutical community. In 2015, DIA conducted 16 educational events in Japan, attracting over 2,500 participants from Japan and other countries. In 2015, DIA conducted 6 events in China, attracting over 1,600 participants. | ASC 740 (FIN48) Footnote | SCHEDULE D, PART X, LINE 2 DIA is a U.S. entity exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and is a nontaxable membership association under Swiss law. DIA, LLC (a Pennsylvania limited liability company) is disregarded as separate from DIA for income tax purposes in the U.S., however, its activities are subject to income tax in Japan. DIA India Private Limited was established in and is subject to income tax in India. DIA Europe GmbH and DIA e-learning GmbH were established as tax-exempt entities in Switzerland and are exempt from income tax in Switzerland. DIA Global Healthcare, LLC (a Pennsylvania limited liability company) was established in 2011 and it is disregarded as separate from DIA for income tax purposes in the U.S. DIA (Beijing) Healthcare Info Consulting Ltd. was established in 2012 and is subject to income tax in China. SH DIA Japan was established in 2012 and is subject to income tax in Japan. DIA Learning, LLC (a Pennsylvania LLC) was established in 2015 and it is disregarded as separate from DIA for U.S. Income tax purposes. Management monitors the Associations activities and considers the potential for income taxes when activities are not related to its exempt purpose. These activities, including advertising income and rental income, may be subject to federal income taxes. The Association did not have material net operating income from these activities in 2015 or 2014. Management has reviewed tax positions taken in filings with U.S. jurisdictions and believes those positions would be sustained should the filings be examined by the relevant taxing authority. These U.S. tax filings for fiscal 2012, 2013, and 2014 are subject to examination, generally for three years after they were filed. The Associations income tax filings in India for 2012 through 2015 are subject to examination by Indian tax authorities, and income tax filings in Japan for 2009 through 2015 are subject to examination by Japanese tax authorities. SH DIA Japan income filings are subject to examination by Japanese tax authorities for 2014 and 2015.
